A friend bought me a great bottle of rum...    i dislike straight rum. 

Solution:  classic daiquiri. 

2oz rum (darkish?...  not light).   
1/4 oz simple syrup (i use maple syrup, and it’s great!!). 
3/4 oz lime juice.

Great drink.
