Drug Culture
« on: June 21, 2017, 10:59:36 pm »
I am totally on drugs right now.

My pupils are dilated to the size of pie-plates because of some eye-drops I received at the optometrist's office.  I look like I'm tripping balls. Seriously I look like an owl. My pupils are so wide you could stick a candle in my mouth and my eyes would glow like a Jack o'lantern.  It's either hilarious (if you're not me) or a little worrying (if you're me.)

I've also ingested a bunch of pain-killers.

Also, I've ingested a bunch of alcohol in a desperate attempt to self-medicate.

Things aren't going that great right now.

Let's talk about drugs! Who's high right now?  Are you on drugs? What drugs are you on?

I'm pretty boring that way.  My fiancee has done enough drugs in her life for both of us, I think.

Drugs are bad.  Bad bad bad.

And there are always new ones.

I had dinner last night with someone who did an Iowaska ceremony.  This drug is known to trigger self-realization and life changes, and is often taken in groups in a several-days long ceremony.  I commented that I can't imagine what I don't already know about myself at this age.

Fentanyl is also a new one, and my **** friends tell me that they can't take their drugs anymore because of it.  A friend's teenage son tried mushrooms and they were laced with something so he flipped out and smashed a window, now he's in therapy.

Like drink, there is a way to use drugs to enjoy life and people.  But there is a saying in an eastern philosophy about the dangers of getting a peek at heaven via drugs, then wanting to just stay there.

My crowd does a lot of drugs, but also has people who are 100% or close to 100% sober (I'm in the later group).  Choose life.

I never considered the effect of the fentanyl epidemic on people who just want to snort their **** in peace.  What a buzz-kill.

Marijuana is very widespread in Kim City, of course, and the young people in the condos next door were at it last night.  The distinctive cough is kind of a give-away.  I never got the hang of smoking, so I always did the same thing when that blast of harsh unfiltered smoke hit my trachea.  When my pot friend invested in a bong, I found that was a lot easier to use.

My pot friends are now into the galaxy of edible products, which I also don't understand.  I remember people talking about brownies and cookies but... gummi bears ?

Gummy bears?  That actually sounds pretty cool!  I found being high to be a very interesting experience, but really didn't like the smoke at all. If I could get that fascinating experience without the aggravation it causes my lungs, I'd probably give it another try.

On the other hand I have very poor self-control around gummy candies.  I seldom buy them because I usually just devour the entire package in seconds. If I had gummy-bears filled with psychoactive chemicals I'd probably do myself permanent brain damage.

You really drank alcohol with pain killers? That sounds dangerous.
I doubt the mushrooms were laced with anything. They were probably just good mushrooms.

No, they likely were.  The kids involved went nuts, and the adults know what typical behaviour is on those medicants, they're not naive in these respects.

40 years and thousands of dollars later and I have never come upon something "laced" with something else. I have seen different people react in wildly different ways to the same psychedelics though.

The painkillers were really just Advil. They weren't doing much so I decided to chase them down with a couple of beers and a Zombie and a Boulevardier. There might have been a Pineapple Gin Sour as well, I kind of lost track after the Zombie.

I doubt the mushrooms were laced with anything. They were probably just good mushrooms.

I swear the sign on the door said he was an optometrist.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/montreal-safe-injection-sites-1-week-1.4177515

Montreal has 3 new safe injection centres.

I know this may sound callous... but is this the best use of public health dollars?  I fear that this sort of thing may just prolong the suffering... keep them alive until they find a more effective way of killing themselves.  Perhaps mental health initiatives or something would prevent some people from getting into this lifestyle in the first place.

I have known people who worked in emergency rooms who become disheartened and jaded at seeing the same people over and over again over self-inflicted substance-abuse "accidents".

That's one of the ideas behind this: reducing costs of ODs.  Hopefully it helps people get off the dependency too.

Edibles last night, and watching hours of Norm videos with buds.
