No, they likely were. The kids involved went nuts, and the adults know what typical behaviour is on those medicants, they're not naive in these respects.
40 years and thousands of dollars later and I have never come upon something "laced" with something else. I have seen different people react in wildly different ways to the same psychedelics though.
