Somehow Big Bird was relatable when I was a kid and he's a giant yellow bird.  Because he acted and reacted like I would and his color had nothing to do with anything.

Do you think diversity in the West is a bit different than India?

That's not an argument.  Explain why it isn't an apt comparison.  Because white people being a minority don't elicit the same victim-complex in your soul?  We can use any non-western country as an example.

Britain is 86% white people.  Probably 98% white people 80 years ago.  AAAAAAHHHH!!

Throwing in a couple of token minorities has been around for many decades, that's fine whatever, but for LOTR that's just kind of try-hard.  But hey, honestly it's probably just capitalize more than anything I guess.

Anyways, I hope this show is good.  I think the new Game of Thrones looks better in terms of visuals & effects.

The new Dungeons and Dragons film trailer has visuals looking better than both of them somehow, although the story looks a little "Guardians of the Galaxy" which is kinda weird for this genre, but maybe it end up working:

Because you're comparing the experience of someone who grew up in a white-dominant culture moving to somewhere else and not seeing diversity in media, which isn't really what we're talking about when we talk about representation.

Graham’s comments are also ignorant of the actual diversity issues in India’s media.  Graham just assumes there are no issues because everyone on Indian media is a sort of brown colour.

How is it not essentially the exact same situation, only in different countries?

Does all historic British culture have to become multicultural culture or else its racist evil white supremacy?  According to the self-hating guilt-ridden whities the answer is yes.  It's so silly.

That's because the vast majority of people in your country and the one to the south of you has a population largely made of people the same colour of you.  And when there were high quality movies and tv shows etc featuring virtually all minority casts, like Black Panther, Squid Game, the Cosby Show, Slumdog Millionaire, Boyz N The Hood etc whitey still watched it.  Not because they wanted to throw minorities a bone because they felt sorry for them, but because they were quality.  Not to mention many generations of white people growing up enjoying music by black artists.

All this tokenism is stupid and condescending.  All-black or all-asian or all-white cast....who cares?  It's just culture.  White people shouldn't feel guilty unless they're actually excluding non-white people because they don't like them.

FWIW I just spent two weeks in the southern USA and the change in diversity and attitudes since the 1970s is perceptible.

They should have made Ariel a white trans woman with giant breast plate with tiny shells covering her protruding nipples.
