I have an accent.  I'm mocked for it all the time at work. 

Many years ago we were having dinner at an Arlington Texas restaurant and the waitress asked us where we were from. When we answered Canada she said, "ah, I thought you had that nowhere kind of accent".

Pure gold.  A breakfast waitress in Truckee, CA said to me "did you just say ABOOT" ?

When I visited family in the UK they said they can't tell the American and Canadian accents apart.  Later we were watching a Michael Moore movie and he was interviewing some deplorables and I was like 'Come on!  you can't tell the difference?!?'  I think they said yes to please me, but I still think to outsiders they really can't tell us apart.

I took an acting class and was meeting the other students.  One introduced himself as a regular on that show.  I had no idea who he was
