Really digging these videos.  It makes me appreciate the alt-right trollosphere as a starting point to discussions.  Most of the trolls will be left behind but the point I get from this is that politics as pure culture wars means that actual politics has been 'hollowed out'.  I have been thinking and saying this in some form but it's articulated much better in this video.

Well I hate to quote that great philosopher Bush-Cheney, but American data is simply far, far more readily available than Canadian. That's particularly so in terms of race because Canadians never like to talk openly about such things. I easily found out a lot about Black educational achievement from the US, but not so in Canada. Same for Asians, same for comparisons made between them and whites. I have found occasional stories detailing concern among the Black community in Canada for low educational levels and higher Black dropout levels, and speculation as to causes (related to single parenthood) but nothing detailed.

There is no question in my mind you have spent a hundred times more of your time reading whatever the **** an alt-right blogosophere is than I ever will so you can fume and curse and snarl at your enemy.

I don't read any blogs. And I don't read any American news sites, except for occasional glimpses during major events at the likes of the network sites.

Define "soon".  I don't see it changing any time in the near future.

I think education is by far the best social program you could offer.  Instead of these stupid racist quotas at universities & with employers, they should do everything to try to eliminate the need for them by making the best teachers work at the elementary/middle/high schools that have the lowest performing students (inevitably usually in the poorest neighbourhoods, often many minorities living there).  Have after-school programs for those kids in the poor areas for even more help and give them something to do rather than drugs & gangs & unprotected sex. Give those kids every support they need to actually get educated instead of giving them pity admissions and pity jobs they don't actually deserve.  Then let them compete in the SAT's fairly & let the chips fall where they may.

How do you MAKE people work where they don't want to work? How do you get them to stay there? Have you read or heard anything about what teaching is like in inner city schools? You know some teachers come out of those schools with PTSD?

As the employer of public schools, employees should go where they're told to go.  I'm sure some kind of system can be worked out to provide incentive for teachers to want to go there, like extra pay.  When a hockey player is traded to a new team do they have a choice?

You're worried about the teachers?  I'm worried about the kids.

Students coming from broken homes, bad neighbourhoods, and generally bad environments have a very hard time breaking out of the cycle their parent are struck in, so education is really far and away the most effective way to get them out of that cycle.  Every effort needs to be made to help them.  Anyone who calls themselves a teacher should be game for that task.  If certain kids are out of control, then schools should get them in control.
