Just sitting up watching the lead up to this latest. It's romantic. We need it.

I guess I can see some value in the monarchy.  However, I can't bring myself to care about royal weddings.

At the end of the day, the excessive interest in their personal lives is just a more traditional version of the celebrity worship culture that keeps people like Ryan Seacrest and Ben Mulroney employed, made people like Paris Hilton and the Kardashians household names, and helped put an orange buffoon in the White House.

In upcoming months, zoomed-in photos of Megan Markle's belly, looking for the first hints of "baby bump" will be on tabloid covers at the supermarket checkouts, right next to tabloids headlined by Jennifer Aniston's latest breakup or some Hollywood star's latest romantic foibles or celebrity plastic surgery and weight problems.  Tea grannies who "tsk tsk" about why people care about that Armenian girl with the big behind will be breathlessly watching for news of Megan Markle's first baby.

I have tons of admiration for Queen Elizabeth II.  She's a remarkable person. And I do think that our constitutional monarchy is overall a pretty good system. I just don't feel the attraction that makes people go gaga over the royals.

And nor do I go gaga but it is a nice break from all the Trump garbage. And in terms of systems, I much prefer our Whitehall system as opposed to the US presidential system.

Why?

I don't know much about her but she seems like an old bird hag who made her son marry a woman he didn't love.

Anyways, I read some controversy over Markle's dad, who's an a-hole, and a week before the wedding was caught getting paid by paparazzi to pose for staged tabloid photos.   So then shortly after he magically "chose not to come to the wedding" due to "health issues" and Charles agreed to walk her down the isle.  WTF don't lie to people make just say it: he's a douche so they didn't want him.  I have no use for "royals".  They're just descendants of aholes who a long time ago took the throne for whatever reason, probably by sword, and stole a lot of the wealth the have from their own people.

I have no use for royals either...   but if Markle wants to make up a story, too fuckin’ bad for you.  It’s none of your business.   Why are you even reading about this ****?  Why does she owe you an explanation?

Celebrity gossip is slimy business.  And people who consume it gross me out.

I think they're saving him embarrassment, somewhat by doing it this way.

HBO had Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon covering the wedding like the "Tish & Cord" skits on SNL.

No freakin way was I getting up at 5 am to watch, but I caught the last half hour.

Meh.....

it was in the news.  i really don't care.  I think Markle is a fake attention-**** and Harry is an annoying bratty ginger who both come from effed up families so i don't care about any of this garbage, especially if they're going to lie.

I agree, except of course I followed it anyway and likely love them on some level...

I think Harry has turned out rather well after a bumpy start. Sandhurst and two tours in Afghanistan probably didn't hurt.

Apparently enjoyed the camaraderie of being a ground soldier in Afg. but was pulled out once his identity was revealed.  He returned and did a pretty good job of co-piloting an AH 64 and it seems that job helped give him some real focus.

When they were debating about deploying him to Afghanistan, he said he didn't "drag his sorry ass through Sandhurst" to watch the people he trained with and led be shipped off while he stayed at home. The Invictus Games are also his idea and baby.
