The ice cream my aunt had you simply filled it up with the stuff, plugged it in and made room for it in the freezer. It had a flat cord that allowed the freezer door to close. It churned away until the contents stiffened up to a point of resistance that tripped a switch and then it stayed there frozen until dessert time.
