Imagine having pieces of a jet engine coming through the window at you! And man did that engine ever blow up!

What would be most interesting to note is what engines it uses. The -700 model has been around for about 20 years so it may have the more traditional engines than the newer ones with a lot of carbon fiber and ceramic, but if it was recently upgraded that might spell a serious issue for the industry.

It was a CFM 56, the same type which blew up a couple of years ago. I haven't had a chance to research that but I seem to recall the containment shield failed on that one as well.  They are a very popular engine so I'd get a window seat forward of the wing just in case.

CBC 1 had a guy who livestreamed on Facebook, this morning.  His first instinct was to do it to be able to tell his loved ones he loved them, en masse.

Funny how strong it is our social norms compel us.
