hmmmm….  How much time have you got?

The Catholic Church helped Nazis escape Germany after the war.  Killing 6 million Jews wasn’t bad enough for the church not to help these poor fellows being harangued by the liberators.

Southern US Christians lynching black people was a religious ritual for many.

If you want something more local, just look at the treatment of indigenous people by the churches here in Canada. An act of attempted genocide.

The fight against gay marriage was completely on religious grounds.

Religious? Yeah, right. I know other gays who go to church regularly, and conservatives who don't.

Although I think I know what you mean, that religious arguments were used. But only in the sense that I use gloves to clean up dog poo. The gloves didn't actually clean it up, my hand did, utilizing the glove as a superficial protection.

Sorry that's the best metaphor I can think of to describe it.

I've been reading the Bible. There probably was no Sodom. So what? It's a parable used to illustrate a point. No more, no less.
