Looks serious and the firefighters haven't been able to reach it yet.

Some good news:

Notre-Dame was in the midst of renovations, with some sections under scaffolding and bronze statues were removed last week for works.

I hadn't thought about this so called "stone oven" effect where due to the construction of the building, firefighters can't get inside because of the amount of heat retained within. So much wood inside including the iconic organ.

Let's hope (or pray) the exterior walls don't collapse.

200 years to construct, one afternoon to destroy.

I hope so, if someone torched it intentionally there will be hell to pay.

I am betting that if it was terrorism that the government will go out of its way to suppress that information getting out for fear of the public reaction.

We live in a really effed up world these days.  Revenge is not something Jesus would want.

Yes we do but revenge is as old as humanity. Historically, no one has done it better than religions.

Look where the fire started, and what was going on where the fire started. Cleaning stone requires some heavy duty, flammable substances. Bit you seem to have decided it was terrorism but we will never know because the gov. will hide it. All I can say to that is "paranoia will destroya"

It's just not very Christian, it's the antithesis of everything Jesus stood for.  Using anger and hate to get back at anger and hate will only make things worse.

Luckily, looks like they're treating this as an accident:

Quote
http://The Paris prosecutor's office said investigators are treating the blaze as an accident for now. They have ruled out arson or possible terror-related motives for starting the blaze.

Prosecutors say Paris police will conduct an investigation into "involuntary destruction caused by fire."

I agree but Christians have done some very un Christ like things over the years.
