Your "friend" is probably lying to you, sorry. That or the kid is just f*cking with them.

No they aren't, sorry.  Even if they were effing with them, they are a cat and it's allowed.

Okay, now do you guys. What does it say when some people desperately try to declare things a hoax if it doesn't support their world view?  Jessica Yaniv, Giant Fake **** Guy, male rapists being transferred to women's prisons, the Wi Spa incident, all this stuff was a hoax, until it wasn't.

 -k

Well, you would say "it's because because we've reached a point where it's no longer possible to tell parody from reality when it comes to gender-critical people pushing lies" but I'd say "some people will believe anything, no matter how obviously fake, if it confirms their prejudices."

Also there's a difference in degree if not in kind between, say, questioning someone's account of an alleged crime and something as outrageous as "schools are putting litterboxes in classrooms to sh!t in".

What do you think should be done about it?

Well apparently this kid has "problems", so I don't know.  I'm not a therapist or social work etc.  I'm not saying its wrong in this case, I don't know the details, but there's at least 1 student i'm aware of who is allowed to identify as a cat is all i'm saying.

Right do you think that in 1975 somewhere someone some student in an elementary school may have told their teacher they were a cat and meowed?

You think it made international news and politicians address the problem in their campaigns?

Some of these things are just things that happened, they're not significant and they're not tied to some kind of social decline.

People need to decouple from these culture War campaigns and just be real.

You used this example in a thread about wokeness, so you seemed to be implying that this is somehow a “woke” issue that the kid identifies as a cat.  Well, is it?

We had a kid who thought he was a seagull.  Every day he would get off the bus and run into the field, flapping his arms, to be with his shithawk kind.  This was before the world was “woke”, and yet, he was left alone.

I implied no such thing, that's your assumption.

I know of literally 1 example of this happening.  I have no idea if it's "woke" or not.  All i'm saying is that for those that think this isn't happening, they're wrong.  I'm not saying we should freak out about it (yet).

I think something like trans teachers allowed to dress in mammothly large breastplates with protruding nipples is a more worthy example of wokeness gone amok among our school admin.  I think we have a growing issue in our society of organizations afraid to offend anyone, and therefore cowardly look past things or institute policy that is clearly ridiculous.  I blame social media, cancel culture, woke ideology, and cowardliness in the face of the most minimal "outrage".  We're never going to please everyone, so the solution is to try to do the right thing regardless of who it may be offend.

So you posted about it in the woke thread, but have no idea what the issue is.  That’s useful.

No, somebody claimed cat students don't exist.  I provided an example of where it does.  It is useful because it rejects a false claim.  What you or anyone else wants to do with that info is up to you.  Cat students is not an issue I feel strongly enough at this point to comment further...for now.

All this from a single second-hand anecdote?

It also might not have anything to do with the topic.  So who cares?

Just normal people worried about pocketbook issues who are just tired of wokeness being shoved down their throats, right?

Quote
Earlier this year, a Grant, Michigan, high school sophomore won a contest “to brighten up” the middle school health center, according to a statement from Grant Public Schools (GPS). GPS says the student received approval to paint images of “smiling children” and as well as the message “Stay Healthy.”
...
At a school board meeting on Oct. 10, parents accused the student artist of promoting witchcraft by including the Hamsa hand as well as the video game character that bears the likeness of a demon. Parents also objected to the use of LGBTQ colors.

“I put my art up there to make people feel welcome,” the student artist said, her voice breaking, in footage captured at the meeting by WZZM-TV, a local news station based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

One man at the meeting called the mural “hate material.”
...
Tracey Hargreaves, who has two children in the Grant Public School system, came to the defense of the student artist.

“I am a conservative, right-wing, gun-loving American,” Hargreaves declared at the meeting. “And I’ve never seen more bigoted people in my life.”

In an interview with TODAY.com, Hargreaves said, “The meeting turned into a hate fest. Usually there are 10 people at these meetings, 50 showed up. It wasn’t even about the mural ... People were talking about how we need to pray the gay away.”
