After deleting Kanye West's account for "inciting violence" for posting a picture of a swastika/star of David mashup, Twitter restores a notorious neo-Nazi's account.

Quote
Andrew Anglin, founder of the neo-Nazi publication The Daily Stormer, has been allowed back on Twitter, even as platform owner Elon Musk banned Kanye West for being a Nazi sympathizer.

Anglin was kicked off Twitter in 2013. The Southern Poverty Law Center describes him as “a prolific internet troll” and a “serial harasser,” while it says The Daily Stormer “nurtured a new generation of white supremacists online.”

This oughta bring the advertisers back lol.

Muskrat continues his slide into the far right, posting conspiracy theories about Fauci funding gain of function research in Wuhan and mocking trans people.

And then Dave Chappelle brought him on stage at a show and he got his ass booed lol

Quote
The crowd erupted into a mixture of cheers and boos, before the boos clearly won out, according to footage posted on Twitter. [Update, 6:40 a.m. ET: The footage appears to have been deleted from Twitter for some reason, but you can still watch it below.] The booing got louder as Musk wandered around onstage with a microphone in hand. Musk started pacing and waving, clearly unsure what to do about such a negative reaction.

Chappelle simping for Musk is sad and reminds me of a line from a far superior comic:

A conservative federal judge who has said she won't hire law clerks from Yale Law School to protest "cancel culture" on its campus on Tuesday told students at its rival Harvard that law schools need to "step up" and do more to encourage free speech on campus.

In Yale's case, she said the "straw that broke the camel's back for me" was an event in March at which students disrupted a campus discussion with a conservative lawyer, Kristen Waggoner of the Alliance Defending Freedom.

She said that was why when U.S. Circuit Judge James Ho, a fellow Trump appointee on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in September called for judges to boycott hiring students from Yale in protest, she followed suit in hopes of promoting change.

Branch argued law schools like Harvard and Yale should be doing more to enforce "robust speech codes" that make disrupting speeches on campus an offense and warned that student protesters who threaten speakers risk criminal prosecution.

Cancel culture is when someone protests a conservative, but when I blackball students from schools who I think are too woke, that's free speech.

These people are morons.

Also, lol:

Quote
"The easiest course of action will be to cave into the mob," Branch said. "But I assure you, you lose a little bit of your soul when you do that. Stand up, hold firm. I assure you that no one ever respects anyone who caves."

Both Ho and Branch have suggested they could call off their planned boycott. Ho at an event at Yale University with Branch in November said the school appeared to recognize a "course correction" was needed.

"Don't cave to the mob. Cave to us!"

For the school board you have an issue which is the political equivalent of C4 putty sitting there.  The board is faced with the forces of media, parents, woke mob (as you would call it), the anti-woke protestors and Freedom folk, teachers, unions, students - all in a circle around this purported cross-dressing troll - and nobody wants to grasp the hot potato.

I know this is old, but I'm new here.

I'm generally on the side of "woke" (I think?) but what bothers me is that folks treat obvious ridiculousness as radioactive waste that must be tip-toed around.

This is either the biggest troll of the century, or serious mental illness.  Either way, as soon as he showed up to school like this, the administration should have sent him home and his Board should have supported it and hired the lawyers.

After four months of international uproar, the Ontario school board employing a gender transitioning teacher who wears enormous and sexualized prosthetic breasts under tight-fitting tops inside the classroom agreed teachers need to “maintain appropriate and professional standards of dress.”

You don't think the way they do.

I guess not, but I'm not sure what thinking they're doing.  I don't generally care about this stuff, but this was absurd.  If we are tip-toeing around even absurdity like this, we actually do have a problem.

They're thinking is "how can we manage this without getting sued into the ground?"

Understood, but that's a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.  There is a line, somewhere, isn't there?  When I first read about this, I thought the teacher was trolling "woke culture" to show how silly it could get.  I'm still not entirely convinced that isn't what happened here.   :P

The problem here is they didn't have a dress code for staff so any attempt to enforce a non-existent policy would be challenged. I dunno how much deeper you need to go than that.

Employers have significant latitude in how they want to enforce their dress codes.  The fact that this lunatic is still allowed to dress like this is a national embarassement.

They didn't have a dress code to enforce, stupid.

Oh for sure:

Quote
Meanwhile, despite a change in the response by the board, on Friday another anonymous bomb threat required police to conduct another security scan of Oakville Trafalgar High School. The school remained open and classes continued.

There have been perhaps a dozen or more threats since the controversy over the teacher’s attire caught attention with students and parents and then around the world after photos and video were posted online from the classroom.

Several of the anonymously mailed threats were filled with profanity, extreme anti-transgender language, and explicit threats of bombs and murders against the school, the board and the entire Oakville community. Some prompted the school to be evacuated.

You don't need to have an explicit policy and rule for everything.  Any professional body or designation has (or should have) a purposely vague conduct section for this sort of thing.  I've never seen a dress code that covered comic-sized prosthetic breasts, have you?

This is the sort of thing that even the Teacher's College should have waded into, if they want to have any sort of credibility on these issues.  I generally fall in with the "woke" side of these debates, but when we can't even take confident action with the truly preposterous, we light a beacon for the dumdums rally around and rage against.  This whole thing was stupid.  We make a laughingstock of ourselves bumbling around over things like this.
