"Lynyrd Skynyrd" was named after the band members' highschool gym teacher, Leonard Skinner.   "Greta Van Fleet" is a 4-piece band named after an old lady from their home town.  Greta Van Fleet (the band, not the old lady) has been getting a lot of attention lately, probably because their singer sounds an awful lot like Robert Plant. I heard them on the radio and was sure that I was listening to some Led Zepplin song I'd not heard before.

ANCIENT GREEK MUSIC !

http://www.openculture.com/2018/08/see-ancient-greek-music-accurately-reconstructed-first-time.html

“This is a sound that hasn’t been heard for 2000 years”...

To that I said “thank goodness....   now let it go back to the grave....  please!   My ears bleed!”

I love Greek food. But the music, ahh...I heard what sounded like a pasture full of peacocks.

That’s really cool. Wouldn’t be high on my play list but didn’t mind it at all.

Anything popular is a sequel or a reboot these days.  Guess they just rebooted Zeppelin.  Fun that they sound so closely to them, just wish there was a bit more originality in popular rock music.  I really, really love Royal Blood, plus they do stuff nobody else has done.

Never liked this band, but heard this song on radio, i like it.  Topical lyrics for these crazy times of ours:

"In times of turmoil
In times like these
Beliefs contagious
Spreading disease
This wretched mischief is now coursing through your souls
Never to let go
Never to let go

Them rats! (Rats–rats–rats)

Into your sanctum
You let them in
Now all your loved ones
And all your kin
Will suffer punishments beneath the wrath of God
Never to forgive
Never to forgive

Them rats! (Rats–rats–rats)
Aaah whoah..."

I just want to wish "The Queen of Soul" well. My pasty white mother loved her work, and so did I when I got away from cartoons and into music.

Thanks Aretha.

Maybe sweet 90s pop is what I need right now:

The La's - There She Goes

I heard this in a bar in Toronto in the 1990s, from the jukebox I think, and just stopped... went over and asked what it was...

And FWIW:

Most obvious song rip-offs in history:

I do NOT agree with many of these as a few are samples, and they - and a few others - were acknowledged as homages and even paid royalties in/out of court.

But some of them are interesting. :)
