Smoke Free Culture

2+ months off tobacco over here, and this comes up:

What does that mean smoke-free campus ?  You can't smoke anywhere anyway ?  I think the era of anti-smoking legislation is almost done, unless we are going to ban it outright.

But it's okay to smoke pot! Which is addictive too! And which can also cause health problems.

And vaping, which I find the most offensive for smell among the three.

I butted out my last fag ~16 years ago and not only do I not miss it, I hate being anywhere near any kind of it. The tighter the restrictions the better IMO. Unfortunately, if you are anywhere in BC today which I am, you are smoking whether you like it or not.

Having expressed my disdain for smoke (all kinds) I must hasten to add I don't think we should be throwing people in jail and giving them criminal records because they smoke pot. I agree with the choice to legalize pot, just use it in such a way that I don't have to smell it.

It means this: "People who wish to smoke can still do so on sidewalks that are city property, but must stay at least nine metres away from college entrances. The ban also extends to cars parked on college property."

I think this is great.  Nothing good has ever come from smoking.  I truly don't understand why anyone would ever suck on one in the first place, especially given what we've known for a few decades+.
