You might also want to check out Cape Helca (82°53'00.0"N 64°40'00.0"W) on Ellesmere island near Alert. It has an alternate name as Cape Perry.

You mean Hecla I presume. Never been there. My place was an old DEW site updated to a NWS but the kitchen in the place allowed me to look like I knew how to cook, which I did while the techy's did the maintenance on the diesels and electronics to keep an "eye" on those pesky Ruskies.

NWS? I heard of DEW but not NWS. What's it mean?

North Warning System. They automated and de manned the old DEW sites and the radar views are sent by satellite to a central location in Ontario.

Well it wasn't what you would call the lap of luxury, but I had a big screen TV and more channels that I had at home those days.

Only one place to stay up there and that's the old DEW line site. Looks homey eh?

Anyone else care to throw out an introduction? I'm always curious to discover the actual people behind the debates we have.
