Hooooh boy.  This one is weird.  The East German security establishment had this made up so they could track decadent youth.

Anyone see Atomic Blonde? There were some breakdancers in the beginning the Stasi whacked because they were "degenerate".

America's contemporary version of this lunacy is...

THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

It's a marketing 'nothing'.  Such an institution represents the forces that try to control culture.  It should be eliminated.

I agree, it's about the least rock-and-roll thing you could imagine.  Having these gatekeepers to some corporate elite thingy is totally meaningless.

I visited once.  The only point of the HOF is to walk through the museum, which is amazing.  It should just be a museum, and be renamed the "Rock and Roll Museum".  No silly inductions.  Music and art awards in general are a bit of a joke.

Ok.  Why is it amazing though ?

Apparently lots of folks snub them: The Sex Pistols, Jerry Garcia, Thom Yorke, Axl Rose, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, David Bowie...

All are amazing in their time and all snubbed it in one form or another.

The museum?  The huge collection of old outfits and gear etc from rockers.
