White people are the only ones with the ability to be racist in most circumstances.  Anyone can be prejudiced.

And how do you know the individuals making the posts are "privileged"?

Just that - I'm even part of the problem sometimes.  Reading the ignorance from the people in my Facebook feed and hearing the ignorance from the people I see in real life in regards to the latest "Canada was complicit in torture" settlement - bunch of **** racists. 

Oh, now they'll have more money for bombs, some say.  They weren't found guilty, but it doesn't mean they aren't others say.  The law should only apply to those people who believe in Canadian values, others say (irony alert).  **** off.

I'm too angry to be coherent this morning.

There's a lot of white people who are racist. I think most people from virtually every race are racist.  However, the statement "White Canadians are a Bunch of **** Racists" is a racist statement itself because you're stereotyping a whole race as racist, since not all white people are racist.  An accurate statement would be "Many white Canadians are **** racist".

It would be like you saying a racist statement like "Aboriginal Canadians are a bunch of **** criminals!" when statistically aboriginals commit far more crimes than the average, but certainly not all aboriginals are criminals.

I'm tired of white people being demonized as acting as some solitary group of racists, it's just not accurate, bad behaving individuals should be held accountable for their own actions and not all lumped together as an over-generalizing stereotype...which is what causes racism in the first place.

I've previously posted international studies of racism which show that Canada and other western nations are by far the least racist on earth.

Racism has two different meanings.  When it comes to the meaning relating to prejudice - yes, that's open to anyone.  When it comes to the meaning relating to the systemic power related discrimination - only white people can be that in our society.

Racism has one meaning.  Racism by definition is discrimination based on race.  The sociological definition is nonsense.  "Systemic power related discrimination" is a simply many people being discriminatory based on race.

Unless we're talking about aboriginals, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, or any other groups that were marginalized historically in Canada, of course.

Up until the immigration laws were liberalized in the seventies Canada was about 98% white - excluding aborigines. But the whole whine about institutional racism that I hear in the media is, for the most part, about blacks and people from western Asia. I don't recall ever seeing anyone from China or Japan or that entire part of the world whining about how they can't find jobs because of systemic discrimination. I don't see natives doing it either, really. Their complaints have to do with the reservations. Which is an entire other thing.

Still waiting to hear where we whiteys are imposing systemic discrimination on folks.

Systemic racism is when "whitey" disregards resumes that don't have Anglo-Saxon Canadian names on them, and calls it "good business practice".

I would say that's just racism, and applies to everyone.

If it applies to everyone, that's systemic.  It means that people without an Anglo-Saxon Canadian name is going to have trouble getting a job.
I grew up in Williams Lake when the forest industry was booming.  A lot of turbans were seen in the mills there, and there was a lot of overt racism in the community and lots of people who would never consider hiring a "raghead".

So what is your point?

If it applies to everyone, then everyone can be racist.

That sawmill on Mitchell Island wouldn't hire anyone else.  Unless it was just chance.
