It was actually very lucky that this was, in general, a non-violent blockade.  (Although that may change, and the Coutts weaponry was an exception).

If this was a group of terrorizers who wanted to actually take over Parliament by force, they likely would have done so quite easily.

Hopefully there will be a Royal Commission on the failures of what happened.  The RCMP failed, Ottawa Police failed, and CSIS failed.

The Provincial police force was completely useless.

The feds waited way too long before taking over the authority to police this.

Agreed.

No Royal Commission necessary.  The police forces and politicians failed to enforce the law.  They were scared, sometimes with good reason.

Not a Royal Commission  but the Emergency Act itself states an inquiry must be held whenever it is used.

According to most of the blockade apologists, there was no racism at the blockades….

Unless you were a minority trucker trying to do their job.  Then you were told to go back to your own country.

Randy Hillier, MPP in ON, encourages people to flood 9-1-1 with calls.

Counseling someone to do something illegal is itself illegal.

What I find disturbing from the Conservative Party is that their support of an illegal blockade has forced the actual police forces into a political position.

They have deemed that this illegal blockade is ok, and did nothing wrong, because they like the message and support their cause.  That has forced the police forces to come out and make statements to contradict the Conservative Party political narrative (lies).

That’s not a good position for police forces to have to do.  It makes it seem like they’re political, when they are simply refuting misinformation.

Plus, this is going to give the Libs ready-made political ads.  No longer can the Conservative Party claim to be about law and order;  it has flipped that narrative 180 degrees.

Randy Hillier is an idiot.

He has also become voiceless in the legislature.  I guess there’s no mechanism to kick the idiot out.

If there are credible threats of violence, and the local police are not large enough to deal with it, the military should be called in to defend parliament and Ottawa in general from any acts of terrorism/violence.
The military, by law, cannot be used against Canadian citizens. They couldn't even provide equipment and support in Moncton years ago when the RCMP officers were getting shot down.

That’ s an American thing.  It’s not a thing in Canada.

The Canadian military can be used for domestic operations to assist in policing and such.

Years from now*, when I look back at this, I think this video is what I will remember most fondly.

The trucker convoy freedom fighters have moved on to protesting, threatening and harassing at libraries due to them being inclusive of the LGBTQ members of the community.

In the comments, library staff were, among other things, accused of assisting **** and threatened with lawsuits. Their personal information was also circulated online.

"We also received more worrisome threats for the activity per se, people threatening to come by and do this and that during the event," Gauthier said.

Montreal police patrolled the June 11 event, which went forward without incident, and have opened an investigation into the threats.

"I've worked for the city for almost 20 years. I've never seen anything like this," Gauthier said.

In several instances, groups and social media accounts affiliated with the Freedom Convoy encouraged supporters to protest the Drag Story Hour events.

Stand4Thee, an anti-vaxx mandate group that supported the blockade in Ottawa, has issued several calls in the past month for members to contact libraries hosting drag events.

In posts on Telegram, a social messaging app, the group says the events "indoctrinate our children" and are "disgusting perverted filth." Their posts were shared on the Convoy to Ottawa 2022 channel, one of the largest groups on the app used by convoy supporters.

Members of Calgary Freedom Central — a Telegram channel with nearly 9,000 subscribers that helped rally support for truck blockades in Ottawa and Coutts, Alta., this winter — used slurs as they tried to mobilize opposition to an event last week at a branch of the Calgary Public Library.

Members suggested a physical confrontation to show performers they were "not welcome" in Calgary. Another user suggested confronting parents who brought their children to the event.
