I am not a fan of Trudeau.

But, I do recognize there is a world of difference between a 2 party system (as the U.S. virtually is) and the multi-party system that we have in Canada, where individual ridings typically have more than 2 viable parties.
In elections in the United States there are also usually multiple parties on the ballot.  The Green Party, when Democrats don’t go to court to remove them from ballots, and the libertarian party as well.  Sometimes more.

That's why I said the U.S. is Virtually a 2 party system. Notice the word "Virtually"? Its a rather significant word in that context.

While other parties exist (and people may also do occasional write-ins), those parties usually only receive a tiny fraction of the vote (generally amounting to single digits in percentage). This is significantly different than the Canadian system. To put it in perspective, in 2020 the Libertarians, Greens, and all other parties received ~2% of the popular vote in the U.S. election. In the 2021 Canadian election, 6 different parties received a higher percentage of the vote than the Libertarians and Greens combined in the U.S. election.

Looks like they also around 1.60 in Squidland. Low 1.50's in Kim City but they get a lot of their product directly from Alberta, not via the TransMountain like the lower mainland and Island.

Meh…. Much cheaper than the petrol I bought in Europe.

Shoot, I forgot, you people only care about the popular vote when a Republican is involved. 😂 Is Justin 1 for 3 in popular vote?

again, WINNERS WIN, LOSERS LAMENT!

again, popular vote means diddlySquat. That being said, as I showed with that 2021 election result graphic, you're pining over a measly ~186,000 votes! What you referred to as a significant amount! LOL!

again: #Trudeau3Peat ... apparently... it's a part of the Brand!

Europeans generally have less distance to travel and efficient public transportation systems that make the use of vehicles unnecessary 80% of the time for most people. I once travelled from Hendon, north of London to Croyden, south of the city, right through London by a combination of trains and tube in the middle of rush hour. It took me just over an hour. It would have taken at least twice that to drive.

Ok.   London doesn’t need cars.  Try cruising around Lapland.

You think the recent increase is due to the carbon tax?  That’s been on it for years.  So any increase lately has been due to market conditions, whether it’s gouging by oil companies, or supply/demand.

No but taxes in general are a large part of what we pay. Over 60 cents a litre in the GVRD now and remember we pay GST on all the other taxes including the carbon tax which increases every year.

Exactly.  Anyone that says these carbon taxes have been around for years is completely misinformed.  There were two new increases in the existing carbon taxes that Trudeau implemented in the last year or two.  Apparently he found it necessary to raise taxes in the middle of a pandemic.  The guy has **** for brains.

Ok.  So?  How much of the recent increase is due to an increase in tax?

Not much but we are taxed to the max when it comes to motor fuels and the creeping piling on of taxes causes increased prices right through the supply chain.
They are definitely part of the inflation we are experiencing. You might not drive much but the trucks and trains that deliver everything you use are now paying almost 40% more for diesel than they did a year ago.

The BC carbon tax has been around since 2008. Initially it was supposed to be revenue neutral and be offset by reductions in other taxes. When the existing NDP government came to power one of the first things they did was rescind the the revenue neutral legislation and put it in general revenue. The same will happen to the federal tax, there is just too much money involved for governments to keep their hands off.

Same as the GST was supposed to be put against paying off the debt.

They’re paying more because oil companies have increased the price. You keep conflating taxes with the increase and have already admitted that taxes aren’t the reason for the increase.

Taxes are part of it. Remember, the feds charge GST on the total price of the fuel, including all the taxes. Even if it is the oll companies putting up prices, government is getting a windfall in tax revenue because of it.
