The Trudeau Brand
« on: January 20, 2019, 03:44:23 pm »
Political parties and leaders engage in branding just like corporations and products.
How would you define the Justin Trudeau brand?

Thank you for your time,

Dr. Michael Strangelove

Perhaps you should bring this up with the resident Canada troll over on mlw. He's "current" on all things Canada.

At least with Trump there's no need to look for verification of such things, he readily admits, and even brags about them.

Welcome to politics without substance, where politicians are brands and celebrities. Voters don't need to be informed anymore, they just need to be fans and support their "home" team. Conservatives are just capitalists who will stab you while looking you in the eye. Liberals are just capitalists who will stab you in the back while giving you a hug. **** 'em all.

I feel that while the Trudeau brand could be described as inclusive, pluralist, progressive, positive, compassionate,"woke", politically correct, and ... basically his words "sunny ways".

To echo some of Cybercoma's cynicism... I think that to a large extent, the progressive branding is just that... branding.  On issues of substance, they're still business-as-usual. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as business as usual has served us well for a long time.

I think it means a being that has been summoned into existence by sheer force of will. Sort of like the cockless Trudeau waldo imagines.

guys, guys... the baseless innuendo of your own personal brands has no place in this thread! Apologies to Prof. Strangelove for their partisan hijinks...
