on International Women's Day, a snapshot sampling of those dynamic, influential and dedicated women helping to lead Canada's federal government through their intelligence, strength and compassion towards Canadians... holding the power to spend and make economic policy (Chrystia Freeland at Finance), the power to defend ourselves in a time of crisis (Anita Anand at the Department of National Defence) and the power to manage the country's image abroad (Mélanie Joly at Global Affairs):

Marc Garneau - @74, a well deserved retirement! Former astronaut (3 spaceflights as a 'Payload or Mission Specialist'), retired Canadian Navy officer, Liberal government cabinet Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Transport:

I’m convinced that Turdeau is on his last legs.  Nobody thinks that Canada is better off now than it was before Turdeau took office.
But 75% of the country has been under a Conservative provincial government, which really has all the power in terms of practical governance. So I don't imagine electing more of the same will help us.

Not when it comes to issues most affecting Canadians.  Like inflation, energy, federal taxes, and record immigration that has demand far outpacing supply.  Provinces have no control over those things.  And if a province tries to get control like in regards to carbon taxes, the federal government takes them to court.  Your boy Justin had been an abject failure.

Seems like Garneau was probably not going to run for re-election and when the hammer fell with all the Chinese interference allegations the former Minister of Foreign Affairs (2021) thought it might be a good time to bounce a little early and save himself the headache.  Standing on guard for thee!

hey Nipples, sorry I missed these gems of yours! But hey now, when you earlier dropped a reference to waldo/lurkers in another thread, the waldo asked you if you were playing to the lurkers... clearly... you are! LOL!

as for your nonsense about Marc Garneau, the guy is 74 years old and, as he states, will finally retire in line with the wants/wishes of his family - certainly a well deserved retirement!

of course it was a joint undertaking between the Federal & Ontario governments; François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, and Vic Fedeli, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, issued the following joint statement:

Quote
Earlier today, Volkswagen announced that it has selected St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, as the location to build the company’s first overseas battery cell plant. Today’s news is a major vote of confidence in Canada and Ontario, and in our shared work to position the country and the province as a global leader on the electric vehicle supply chain.

This historic investment is a testament to Canada’s strong and growing battery ecosystem and Ontario’s competitive business environment. With a highly skilled workforce, clean energy, an abundance of critical minerals, access to markets, and a flourishing automotive and battery sector, we are an attractive investment destination with everything companies need to grow. In addition, Canada and Ontario offer stability and predictability to their business partners.

This investment is another significant step forward as we build a clean transportation sector to meet global and North American demand for zero-emission vehicles.

We will continue to build on this success by growing our EV ecosystem and supporting clean technology to create well-paying jobs and spur economic growth and prosperity for future generations.

per the related March 13th Financial Post article:

Quote
The company {Volkswagen} signed an agreement last year with the federal government to work to identify suitable sites for such a facility in Canada, and they had also committed to investigate ways for Canada to contribute to Volkswagen’s battery supply chains, including raw materials and assembly.

I find it amusing how much Liberal Party folks and their supporters dislike the Globe and Mail, and find it "anti-Trudeau" LOL.  The best news outlet in the country without peer.  But blame them when whistleblowers come to them with stories

Maybe the G&M isn't anti-Trudeau, maybe the things Trudeau does just doesn't play very well.  Someone has to shine a light on what the government is doing.

I guess the Liberals just want the G&M to shut up about things like JWR and Chinese interference.

If the Liberal MP Dong is found to have colluded with the Chinese, I think Trudeau is done for.  The Libs would be smart to have him fall on his sword and let Freeland be leader for the next election.
