Jack M. Mintz is the President’s Fellow, School of Public Policy, University of Calgary and chairs the Alberta Premier’s Economic Recovery Council.

This was a Conservative Party propaganda piece.

Ya but it quotes an IMF report.

Any comment on that?

2020 is a meaningless year economically when trying to make a comparison. Countries made differing decisions based on their specific needs and ideologies. Canada chose to spend a lot of money supporting workers. That costs. There's no evidence it was 'unproductive.'

At this point 2121 doesn't look like it will be much different so where do we go from here?
It might even be worse.

That's very important for a socially responsible government, but it's always going to be a problem in making it pay dividends for government. It's one of the best issues for conservatives to pounce on as it pertains to gov spending.

You think government spending is an issue that should never be questioned?

The death count for US virus deaths is beginning to look very bad.

Maybe even 'scary' bad but it's going to take a few more days. It looks like they're already into a thousand a day again.

Will the time come to look at the 'scary' factor? I'm not so sure!

You think government spending is an issue that should never be questioned?

The answer to that question has to be too nuanced for you to understand wilbur. You've made your bed on this forum but I'm willing to give you as many more chances as it takes. I'm just not going to write a story for you that would get shot down by you so you can push your rightist agenda.

Im with the government on this. Spend what needs to be spent until the crisis is over. Set targets and metrics later.

The only problem with that is the targets can end up setting us, like they did in 93.

Math isn’t propaganda.  Math is math.  Numbers don’t lie.  Stop making excuses for horrible fiscal policy by the Trudeau government.  It’s embarrassing.

yes... yes the #pigeonPierre antics are exactly that!

Quote from: #pigeonPierre
You may want to address COVID-19 with big fat government programs; we're conservatives, we don't believe in that

Deputy Prime Minister Freeland reminds the CPC MP for Carleton, Pierre Poilievre, what he said when asked what support the government should offer to Canadians hurt by the pandemic:

imagine - pandemic spending having an impact on the deficit - go figure! As #pigeonPierre says, you and your c/Conservative ilk don't believe in that!

It’s pointless to worry about that right now. We’re in the middle of the second wave.

Sure, whatever. Just keep printing money with no end game.

What would you suggest at the moment, with cases, hospitalizations, and deaths climbing in virtually every country on earth?
