Are you suggesting the government should take steps to prevent real estate from being a pumped-up investment commodity? Or if property values went down, would you complain about that too?

With recent news of the surplus, all they have left to criticize are reasonable public health measures, Putin's gas prices (blamed on Trudeau of course, never dear Putin), and poorly photoshopped memes.

Trudeau gov has added 10 cents/L to the gas prices.  They added about an extra 2 cents

People still are having problems affording housing, gas, and food.  It's not all this government's fault, but some of it is, and 10 cents a litre is contributing to making goods and services more expensive at a time of very high cost of living and inflation.

As I have pointed out before....

Many/most people get an income tax rebate to at least partly offset the cost of carbon taxes. So while a driver may notice the price at the pump increasing thanks to the carbon tax, their 'cost of living' may not go up. In fact, some people (e.g. those who drive smaller vehicles/take steps to limit heating costs, etc.) might end up better off.

Get rid of the carbon tax, then you have to get rid of the rebate. End result: some people (those who drive SUVs/Pickup trucks every day too/from their homes miles out of town) have more cash in their pockets. Others (those who drive smaller vehicles/those who carpool/etc.) will have less cash.
