Pretty much nobody ever wins the popular vote in a multi-party system, but someone always does in a two-party system. I can see how that would confuse you though because that's some pretty tricky math.
Did Stephen Harper? 😂

No. I don't think he ever topped 40%.

The CPC got the most votes in the last 2 elections.  The CPC has been more popular than the Liberals among Canadians the last 2 elections, but the Liberals got 41 more seats last election.  But thems the rules.

Then why did people complain that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in 2016 with only 48.2% of the votes, and in 2000 Al Gore won the popular vote but with only 48.4% of the votes.  It's not a 2-party system in the US either, plus they have independents.  The CPC won the popular vote in the last 2 elections.  Popular vote = most votes, not >50% of the votes.

Didn’t he lose the popular vote in 2 of the 3? 😂
The last election was by a significant amount.
The CPC got the most votes in the last 2 elections. The CPC has been more popular than the Liberals among Canadians the last 2 elections, but the Liberals got 41 more seats last election.

winners WIN... losers LAMENT!

hey now waldo, do you have the numbers? Why yes... yes I do:
=> in the 2021 election, the popular vote difference was, wait for it, wait for it... ~186,000 votes! The amount member Plugs refers to as, "a significant amount"!
=> that's in an election where Elections Canada states 17,209,000 ballots were cast.
=> key to that popular vote difference were the results from the provinces of Alberta & Saskatchewan.

Make sure to thank Trudeau when you’re heating your home this winter.

The devil is in the details, as in who are eligible.

waldo note to the {perpetually} misinformed: the federal carbon pricing fuel charge is not applied in British Columbia! Notwithstanding the current rise in B.C. gas pump prices is being influenced by:
Quote
"recent high prices are due to a combination of transportation issues and conditions at facilities in the U.S. - it is a reflection of the acute shortage of gasoline now south of the border in Washington state and Oregon, caused by both the shutdown of the HollyFrontier refinery and the two storage terminals NuStar and Kinder Morgan in Oregon"

hey now member Plugs, for those provinces where federal carbon pricing is applied... care to describe who gets federal rebate monies?

The devil is in the details, as in who are eligible.

but, but, but member Plugs... given your now multiple posts on the federal carbon tax/pricing, surely you must have those details - yes?

waldo factoid: there is no means test for the 'rebate'/Climate Action Incentive Payment... receiving it is not based on one's income. Rather, for the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, every household has the same rebate amount available per respective province - most households will receive more than they pay as a result of the federal carbon pollution pricing system.

Why can’t you people eve admit that adding new taxes to something increases costs?  Why do you always try to deny it, and then invent some kind of scheme to hide that fact?  Actually, in many provinces, getting some kind of energy subsidy is determined by income.  And that doesn’t count the increases cost of all goods because of production and transportation cost increases.  China loves this policy though!  More outsourcing for them at the expense of the middle class.

Good news! Ontario homeowner allowed to keep flying anti-Trudeau flag after town of Port Colborne Ontario (pop. ~19,000) rescinds bylaw order to remove it.
