small government, simplify

Nice buzzwords.  What does it mean?

And in your next sentence, you want additional government services.

Nice buzzwords.  What does it mean?

Fewer people working in government, simplified rules but to benefit working people.

Maybe sometimes yes.

Take identity politics out of politics - it's a no-win ... this is akin to religion and we separated religion from politics separately.  We need to provide rights to groups and assure safety and access without making such things a point of debate.  It's divisive and not really something that a public can debate effectively... move it to study groups, committees and public consultation.
Just take the parties out of Parliament. Leave them outside with all the other groups, associations and lobbyists.  If Minister such and such and deputy this and that want to wear a pin on their lapel that says they're members of Kiwanis, Freemasons or Gay Nazis for Christ then fine but Parliamentarians form the government not their clubs.

For example - if we closed down Indian Affairs and wrote a cheque to every First Nations person in Canada - how much would they get ?

Leave them there to fight about things that should be fought about....

Didn't Trudeau Sr. have this basic idea and it got shot down in flames?

 ???  Really.  Interesting.

It seems very anti-Liberal to do this but ok.

If that's what they choose to do with their time at least its their's they're doing it with not ours.

Of course there's no reason to completely reengineer how we govern ourselves when simply taking secrecy out of our governance would do the trick.

Any plan is ok as long as you're not being too generous with assessing how people act in self-interest.

We have taken money out, to a large part, right ? You wanted that a few years ago.  Things seem to be to be a little better, except for the lingering shittiness of the political classes.

What about the generosity self-interested political parties show towards an assessment of themselves?  This is a constant refrain you can see on display throughout things like question periods and media scrums.

Okay, I'll take credit for that, thanks. Makes sense we should now follow thru with my suggestion we also take secrecy out don't you think?

BTW I note no one has taken you up on the idea of time-stamping money so we can follow it. :P

He didn't say it was his WIFE, he said it's his "rock".
