Unpalatable? He's your typical bland politician with more smiles.

He's Stephen Harper with a smile, and he's a social conservative, although he tries to hide that. JT can relax.

I know zero about him.  But he looks silly.

So being pretty is the kind of qualification you think makes for a good leader?

And Trudeau is a shallow airhead, although he tries to hide that. I'd rather have the social conservatives. That's less likely to affect government policy.

Meet the new boss,  same as the old boss.

The Liberal Party will never change its stripes, nor will 95% of politicians in general.  I don't miss Harper, but i don't want to vote for Trudeau again, and Jagmeet Singh/ndp oh hell no. Don't know much about Scheer yet.

I preferred Harper.

Isn't social conservatism irrelevant really, at this point ?  A liberal friend of mine thought Harper was going to outlaw abortion....

It's not really that relevant to government in a democracy. And it only really impacts a few things like, as you say, abortion or gay rights. And the Conservatives,  which have the support of social conservatives won't gain anything much by attempting to do away with such things, since who else are social conservatives going to vote for anyway? All they'll do is incur the wrath of the media and the bulk of the electorate.
