Why are we still arguing about equalization with Wilber, who clearly is unwilling to understand the concept? You don't debate calculus with someone who only just learned arithmetic. They don't understand you and aren't going to.

I understand that we have equalization because the sources of revenue aren't equal. If the sources of greater revenue suffer, everyone suffers. You don't need calculous to understand that.

You seem to still think the sources of revenue are provinces and not individuals.

No I don't, I just understand the taxpayers of some provinces contribute more to equalization than others and without them, all Canadians will suffer, not just the tax payers of that province.

Look at the country as a family. If your spouse makes twice as much as you do and they take a 50% pay cut you both suffer for it, not just your spouse. If you don't understand that, you won't understand equalization.

No one has argued otherwise....

when people make less money, there’s less $$$ for equalization.  Ummm...  yeah.   No one is arguing that equalization doesn’t go down when tax revenues go down.   What are you even talking about?  You’re arguing with a straw man again.

I am commenting on the donkeys who don't think Alberta's economy going in the tank is going to affect them.

No one thinks that though.  You’re making stuff up to argue against.

With all the Alberta bashing going and the wish to see the energy industry disappear, some obviously do.

Obviously no one wants the energy industry to disappear. It's shifting to smarter ways of generating it beyond pulling sludge from the ground and burning it to put sludge in the air. I suspect even Alberta is waking up to that.

Of course it matters, it's just on hold.

Nope - it's likely that our way of life will be changed by this long term.

Probably and likely for the better. We will take this stuff more seriously, be better prepared and more pro active in future.
