Thank God it's only taxpayer money. It's not really good for anything but making Trudeau feel noble and generous.

I'm sorry, but this is **** ridiculous.  I don't mean his tweet.  Who cares?  I mean the reaction to it.  We live in a G7 country with an economy worth more than $2T and a federal budget of $300B and we get mad at this?  This money apparently comes from Canada's earlier commitment of $400M to women and girls education announced in the summer.

I guess I'm not old enough to yell at clouds yet.

Whether we can afford it considering we are borrowing 20 billion a year is another discussion, but.
You have no problem with the way he did it? Really?

Trudeau is really no different than Trump when it comes to cultivating a cult of personality among his faithful.

How the F is this different from Trump announcing US government spending on Hannity?

Well, I'm not 85, so no.

This issue actually makes me extremely angry.

I really don't see what age has to do with it.

I don't really understand the controversy.

If you're gonna drop 50 mil, might as well get some good international PR.

On the other hand, he has had a weird "i'm a trendy celeb look at me!" thing going on with this wife, which is more just annoying than anything.

The same thing as we are continually criticizing Trump for. It's all about him. So I assume you think it would be normal behaviour for Trump to announce government policy and spending on Hannity before informing anyone else. I guess one difference would be that at least Hannity is an American and Trump is the US president. Trudeau and Noah, not so much.

Well I'm not 85 either and what the hell does that have to do with Trudeau's grandstanding with public money? Are your standards that low?

I'm not even 60 but it seems like some of the people here want to sneer at anyone who complains about progressive virtue signalling politics as if it's from old creaky men who THANK GOD will die any month now.

Actually, it was a shout out to the great work that Trevor Noah is doing - but people that hate Trudeau have a hard time not seeing him killing babies everywhere he goes.

So the cost of a Trudeau shout out is 50 million. I don't hate Trudeau, I just find his constant preaching and virtue signalling  tiresome and self indulgent.

If this meets the definition of virtue signalling, then anything does.

Please explain how you think it applies.
