Perhaps you should read the article.

of course... my protips showed I did read it... and forced you to actually read it and speak to the "kicks" you didn't explain/detail

by the by, using your linked articles figure of $10 million (2018-2019) associated with your (now... finally) highlighted kicks associated with the, 'BC Mining Exploration Tax Credit'... care to provide a breakdown across such qualified mineral resources as precious metals & other deposits in which the principal mineral extracted is ammonite gemstone, calcium chloride, diamond, gypsum, halite, kaolin, sylvite, silica extracted from sandstone or quartzite... and... coal? Geezaz, there's not much kick for your kicks dollar there - yes?  ;D

while you purposely ignore emission reduction initiatives, surely you have more and greater kicks member wilber - surely!

I read it before I posted it. It's interesting that they are putting just slightly more into emission reduction initiatives than fossil fuel incentives. Either way, they are all subsidies coming out of the big pot of revenues that includes the carbon tax, so my initial statement was 100% correct.

says the guy, you, who ignored general revenue when it didn't suit your agenda, hey member wilber!

unsubstantiated statement

yours is such a stooopid zero-sum game premise to rail on against the carbon tax! This gives you... anyone... the latitude to decry/negate any positive actions and/or initiatives cause something you don't like/prefer/care for is being paid out through general revenues. Such a silly premise to realize your declared kicks - yes?

the separationStokerInChief, Alberta Premier Jason... has been musing about a 'made-in-Alberta' pension plan, one administered by Alberta Investment Management Corporation, AIMCo.

apparently, Alberta government officials state there could be a strategic advantage for Alberta development; suggesting that with many lenders shunning oil and gas, AIMCo might buy more stakes in the industry
=> ever solidifying the Petro Republic of Alberta;D

oh my! CPP's investment return is @ 8.9%... Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) is @ 2.3%

sure Alberta Premier Jason - sure!  ;D

justVisitingJason! Lots of investment opportunity for your redirected AIMCo industry stakes - yes?  ;D

When have I ever ignored general revenue?

I'm not the one doing the railing, that's your thing. I just said I got a kick out of the idea carbon taxes were helping support a carbon industry. Something a government would dream up.

When have I ever ignored general revenue?

like the brazillion times you talked of Alberta, the province proper, funding... while never speaking to individual Albertan's/corporations/business paying tax into general revenue. Like the brazillion times you ignored the actual sources within the general revenue bucket... always generalizing them as from "Alberta proper". Like the brazillion times you talked of Alberta equalization transfers directly to other provinces - like that, hey!

I just said I got a kick out of the idea carbon taxes were helping support a carbon industry. Something a government would dream up.

BS, I've never maintained that.

Governments create artificial markets with subsidies. They subsidize consumers either directly by covering part of their costs or enabling producers to sell at below cost.

whaaa! Where's the divisive, separation enabling, pipelinesOrBust justVisitingJason?  ;D

Sunday... tomorrow... Premiers Blaine Higgs of New Brunswick, Scott Moe of Saskatchewan and Doug Ford of Ontario to make a joint announcement about an inter-provincial plan to cooperate on {Small Modular Reactors - SMRs} nuclear reactors

Natural Resources Canada --- roadmap to engage stakeholders on the future of small modular reactors in Canada

Lefties on my feed are actually supporting this, even though it has come from Conservatives.

I also think it's a good idea.  And any party that moves forward on real change will be rewarded. That said, it's hard to put "Nuclear Innovation" and "Doug Ford" in the same brain, let alone same thought, or sentence.  All they have to do is supply the politics, though, and hopefully this will get put on somebody's to-do list.

except its an initiative that the Department of Natural Resources convened... to bring forward interested provinces, territories, power utilities, Indigenous communities and other stakeholders to support the development of the SMR roadmap - led/facilitated by former Minister of Natural Resources, Amarjeet Sohi. Key stakeholders/project partners were/are:

Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Bruce Power, SaskPower, NB Power, Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC), Alberta Innovates, Government of New Brunswick - Department of Energy and Resource Development, Government of Northwest Territories - Department of Infrastructure, Government of Ontario - Ontario Ministry of Energy and Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL)

and again, conspicuous by his absence in this Conservative Premier announcement is one justVisitingJason... he who doubled-down on his focus with a trip to Texas last week to meet with Texas based investors and business leaders; expressed as an initiative to, "reaffirm Alberta’s position of energy resources to Texas and North America.

tell me waldo, might the absence of justVisitingJason have anything to do with the significant Alberta UPC budget cut (and resulting layoffs) to Alberta Innovates... did justVisitingJason just gut the prior participation of Alberta Innovates in the SMR Roadmap - inquiring minds need to know justVisitingJason!

in any case, it's the Government of Canada that is currently reviewing the over 50 recommendations within the SMR Roadmap => in areas such as waste management, regulatory readiness, international engagement, etc.. Notwithstanding 'experts' speak of SMR deployment being... still being... 20-30 years out.

Quote from: Amarjeet Sohi, Canada's {former} Minister of Natural Resources
Small modular reactors represent a promising area of energy innovation in Canada. The Roadmap includes recommendations that will help inform ongoing collaboration among federal, provincial and territorial governments — as well as other stakeholders and Indigenous communities — to ensure Canada becomes a global leader in the development of this new technology.

I would ask Ms. (Rachel) Notley and the government union leaders to be careful about their language. Inciting people to violence undermines their own cause and it doesn’t respect the kind of civility Albertans expect

very surprised justVisitingJason would play both victim & conspiracy cards in his response to Moody's Investment Services issuing a ratings downgrade for the province of Alberta - very surprised!   ;D

so justVisitingJason thought to use "real data" to challenge those Albertans raising concerns over the level of UCP budgeted education/health spending... only to have an economist factor in operating expenses & economic indicators to translate those budgeted figures into decreasing percentage changes in per-capita spending!

justVisitingJason, about that $4.7 billion corporate tax cut you just rammed through... about those record BigOil profits... about that royalty scheme where bitumen royalties now make up a puny 3.5 per cent of the total Alberta budget... about that prior $30 million grant the Liberal federal government gave for oil well cleanup...

now in the postured name of a jobs program and enviro strategy... you want the federal government/Canadian taxpayers to (once again) bail out the Alberta government's mismanagement - while continuing your divisive separation enabling rhetoric? Really?

of course this latest justVisitingJason ask stems from the earlier Jan2019 Supreme Court ruling that determined bankruptcy is not a licence to ignore environmental regulations... and that there is no inherent conflict between federal bankruptcy laws and provincial environmental regulations. Prior to this recent SCOC ruling energy companies could first pay back creditors before cleaning up old wells - effectively, in practical terms, it meant energy companies could walk away from old oil and gas wells, leaving them "someone else's responsibility".

so, instead of forgoing that huuuuge corporate tax cut, justVisitingJason wants Canadian taxpayers to help deal with orphan wells... while the province of Alberta, from the point of the January Supreme Court ruling to today, has yet to ask industry for additional monies to help fund the cleanup of orphan wells. An ask that would see industry provide additional funding to the described non-profit Orphan Well Association (OWA) - a collaboration among the Alberta Government, provincial regulators and the oil and gas industry.

most pointedly, the Alberta provincial government funding to OWA has been in the form of loans provided to OWA... and, point in fact, the prior $30 million Liberal federal government funding for orphan well cleanup is being used by the Alberta government to cover the interest on its latest loan to OWA. C'mon justVisitingJason... how about having your UCP government fund OWA directly, separate from this "loan bullshyte"... OR how about asking industry to provide additional funding to OWA for orphan well cleanup?
