NDP policy convention
« on: April 05, 2021, 08:44:02 pm »
First, we had the Cons guaranteeing no centrists will vote for the Cons with denying climate change at their convention (among other idiocy).

Now, the NDP has guaranteed that let-wing moderates won’t vote for them either.

Why do the other parties hand the Libs election victories?

Abolish billionaires by taxing all gross wealth above $1 billion at 100 per cent.

Legislate the right to strike for all working people.

Nationalize major auto companies and shift toward building environmentally sustainable cars.

Reduce the work week to 32 hours without loss of pay or benefits and outlaw mandatory overtime.

One motion pushes for "an end to the heroic commemoration" of Canada's first prime minister, Sir John A. Macdonald, and to remove his statues from public places.

Another calls for the return of Crown lands and the restoration of Indigenous jurisdiction to Indigenous nations, commonly known as "Land Back."

One resolution calls for the incorporation of Indigenous symbols into the Canadian flag, with all-party consensus and consultation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis artists.

Several resolutions touch on Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

As India's farmers' protest continues, one resolution calls on the party to push the Canadian government to condemn the Indian government's response and to stand up for the farmers.

Others call for the complete or partial defunding, disarming and disbanding of police forces in Canada.

One resolution in particular calls on the government to freeze military spending, while another proposes "the phasing out of the Canadian Armed Forces."

And another resolution calls on an NDP government to ban the use of pepper spray by law enforcement because of the long-term adverse health effects.

Who will fight fires when they firefighters are on strike?

Nationalize the auto industry????   LOL    Might be the most unrealistic, idiotic thing I’ve ever heard of.

SJWs have taken over and are running the NDP Asylum.  **** idiots.

LOL that article was good for a laugh.  Did a high school student come up with some of those?

NDP and CPC are filled with idiots and crazy people.  Most Canadians are center-left so Liberals have a huge advantage.  If they weren't such arrogant a-holes they could win basically every election.  Canada needs another party somewhere around the center.

Fact: the further you go towards the left or right the closer you get to crazy-town.

I agree, and would add: if they listened to the best ideas of the CPC and NDP and put some smarts into policy and management, vs winning, they would be heroes.

Those are just proposals. Policy conventions always have proposals out of left field from various factions. The party as a whole votes on what becomes policy.

Exactly.  People rightly call out the crackpot ideas from the Cons’ conventions regardless of whether they actually make it to become party policy.  It shows what kind of fringe is associated with the party and how much support,or influence, that fringe has.

Are you sure that didn't come out April 1.

They are resolutions, I would be surprised of more than 10% became actual policy but they sure make them look like the loony left.

The Supremes ruled on that decades ago.

When the NDP became official opposition and when the CPC was in power both parties went more towards the center.  Funny how that happens when you have to pander to regular Canadians for votes rather than just the wingnuts in the party.  Yay democracy.

So the CPC people bringing it up are therefore more nutty ?

Should we forgive them ?

Well yeah...  but that’s his point...  social conservatives still want anti-abortion to be part of official party platform with the CPC.
