Angus said it's unfathomable that only 22 First Nations children in Ontario have needed medical care in the last year, when there are 26 high-risk children with mental health needs living on Wapekeka First Nation alone.Wapekeka First Nation officials say they had applied, unsuccessfully, for funding for help with suicide prevention last summer, ahead of the suicides of two 12-year-old girls this January. On the positive side, the reserve near me, on Friday, was approved for a 3 year program related to Jordan's Principle. There will be a case manager, 6 educational assistants, 10 respite workers, and an administrative assistant.
Look at that....a bunch of money spent on admins, instead of healthcare. Go figure.
To me it looks like 2 out of 16 are admins. Do you agree? Is there something abnormal about that ratio?
any monies that bands receive MUST be used for the purpose as dictated by govt. Every band has to write proposals and a BCR (band council resolution, requires signatures) to get those monies. Those same monies must be used for staffing not just clients in need.
