How about Sikhs, that religion is also anti abortion. Should that disqualify Singh?
Scheer would not be our first Catholic PM, there have been several, mostly Liberals. Considering that church’s position on abortion and same sex marriage, should they have also been disqualified?

If a Sikh came out and waffled on abortion rights, then yes.  Turf their ass.   ::)

Because there's a double-standard around Christianity vs other religions, I believe.  Scheer didn't answer a question, or answered it poorly but if he said he's not going to legislate these matters then who cares what his personal opinion is ?

Right, but if the battle has been won should we never vote for a Christian again ?  And should we never vote for Muslims ?

Nonsense.  Neither of you read my first response to this.

So it’s completely fair, given Scheer’s record as a politician to try and legislate his religious views on others, to ask questions about it.

Please show me where Singh has ever tried to legislate, talked about legislating or espoused any sort of social conservative religious view.  The difference between the two is vast.  Stop ignoring what the politician has actually said and done in the House.  Scheer also gives speeches about how great social conservatism is to religious rightwing groups.  Totally fair to ask questions about this.

The "Campaign Life Coalition" claims they elected 46 anti-abortion MPs.  When rightwing religious groups brag about how many MPs they have in their pocket...  well...  people are going to ask questions.
