JT is so tolerant that he makes his wife and kid wear outfits in his trip to India. Outfits that border on the verge of stereotypical.

https://globalnews.ca/news/4037948/trudeau-family-criticized-for-indian-outfits/

Would we, as Canadians, feel honoured if a leader from the other end of the world showed up wearing a Hockey Jersey? Or a Flannel Jacket?

Well, at least they didn't show up wearing blackface. (brownface?)

ALSO!!!

This is more a family vacation for JT than it is an official state visit. Why are taxpayers paying for this?

Didn't they get some kind of a trade dealio done this week?  I heard something about a billion-dollar trade deal. Although, I suspect India does about a billion dollars of trade every 2 hours, so some perspective is in order.

Seems like Cultural Appropriation.

I'm thinking more like cosplay, actually.

When we're trying to decide whether it's appropriate for Trudeau to show up in another country wearing stereotypical native garb, let's spend a moment and thing: would he show up on a Canadian native reserve wearing a big cheesy head-dress?

Because to me, that seems like--

AH-HAHAHAHHAAHAAAAAAA

AHAHAHHAA

HAAAAAA HAHAHA

Oh my god

HHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAHA

Is that real?  Did he really actually wear that?  That has to be Photoshop, right?  Did he really actually wear that outfit?

OMG

While India has a significantly larger population than Canada, their GDP is only about 50% larger than Canada. Size of trade deals would be more reflective of the GDP than population.

It looks goofy but this is the reason he was wearing it.

Hey whenever I went into the arctic I wore a goose feather parka. I guess Boges would have thought I should have worn a suit.

I suppose context matters but let me google that for you: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=trudeau+in+indian+headdress

The answer is “no.” Trudeau would not wear it to the reserve. But the First Nations Indians will put it on him.

He’s trying to get the brown vote, no doubt, and it’s kinda desperate/funny.

Now you should see me in my “Tiger Pants” which I picked up outside Ranthambore.

Custom measured including the inseam (though the guy measured my wife’s bust twice for her sari - but can’t say I blame him).   ;)

Of course, we all know this is all a cover: Trudeau is in India to meet with Don Trump Jr who is selling luxury condominiums while appreciating the stoic smiles of all the poor people.

Meanwhile, JLaw is getting flack and giving flack for wearing a dress in the cold (I know, right?, like “c’mon, c’mon, ... really!!!”).

I pay as little attention to Trudeau as possible, but when he starts showing up on foreign news sites I do give a look. This was on the BBC site, with a headline Trudeau's Bollywood Wardrobe Amuses Indians. I would suggest that wearing clothing that amuses the locals is rarely a good idea if you want to inspire any degree of respect.

By the way, the Indians are mad at Trudeau and Canada because in the interest of playing political suckup games with sikhs he's been cozying up to Sikh radicals. So what does his group do in India, why, it invites a Sikh terrorist to a reception and gets Trudeau and his wife to pose for pictures with him and his family!

Way to go, Mister Socks!

He's already signed more value in trade deals than Harper did in two trips....

Yes but that hardly matters if he dresses funny.   We Canadians have standards, after all, and one's attire trumps good business any day.

You guys know that if you, personally, think a topic is stupid - you can just not read or comment on it, right?

True, or you can express your opinion that it is stupid. Let us not be silent in our objections, that didn't work out well in the past.

Is this "tone policing"?
