JT getting flack for his India outfits
« on: February 21, 2018, 04:19:02 pm »
JT is so tolerant that he makes his wife and kid wear outfits in his trip to India. Outfits that border on the verge of stereotypical.

Described as “too Indian, even for an Indian,” the Trudeaus have commissioned some of India’s most prestigious designers to outfit them for every photo op. What was perhaps most glaring was the juxtaposition between the Canadian political family and the Bollywood stars they met on Feb. 20. Sophie was in a cream-coloured and beaded sari, their children Xavier and Ella-Grace wore a sherwani and lehenga, respectively, and the PM donned a gold sherwani complete with traditional mojari shoes — while the Indian stars wore slacks and jackets.
“It’s a little over the top,” Vivek Dehejia, economics professor at Carleton University, tells Global News. “I understand on day one having to wear the traditional clothes, but now it’s getting too much. It’s very choreographed, … these Bollywood-style outfits every public event he does. What does it say about the real purpose of the visit?”

Would we, as Canadians, feel honoured if a leader from the other end of the world showed up wearing a Hockey Jersey? Or a Flannel Jacket?

Just wear a **** suit!!!This man is the most tone deaf leader Canada has had in my memory. What an embarrassment to Canada.

ALSO!!!

This is more a family vacation for JT than it is an official state visit. Why are taxpayers paying for this?

What a feeble attempt to take a poke at Trudeau.

If you notice this flack is not coming from Canada. It's from abroad.

It would be like a couple wearing a wedding gown and tuxedo everywhere they went in Canada.

We don't know what these outfits signify.

I expect he does wear a **** suit when in business meetings, or when he meets with the Prime Minister tomorrow. Do you expect a leader from India that takes in a Habs game to wear a suit, or would you be offended if he wore a red Canadians jersey?

We should compare the expenses of Harper's 2012 visit to India when he dragged along his family for a vacation as well, he even brought along a few limos to rack up the dollars. They might be a bit difficult to find however because he made the expenses vanish, but hopefully someone still has a copy out there.

Perhaps wear what the locals wear.

In every photo op JT and his family were in DIFFERENT traditional Indian garbs.

While almost all the actors came dressed in black, Trudeau wore a golden bandhgala sherwani. While it was in line with his affinity for Indian wear — especially during his current visit — this seems to have been the icing on the cake.
So much so, from author and columnist Shobhaa De to Jammu and Kashmir’s Opposition leader Omar Abdullah, many seems to have noticed Trudeau’s interesting wardrobe. Socialite Suhel Seth took to Twitter, wondering out loud if the Canadian PM is preparing for the Lakmé Fashion Week and even went on to call his wardrobe change the costliest photoshoot ever. “Clearly Justin Trudeau has been watching all those Manyavar Mohey ads that air before movies,” read another remark on Twitter. Others have commented on the way the Trudeau family members seem to have colour coordinated their outfits for all formal outings.

How about you JT supporters come out an criticize actual people from India for criticizing dear leader.

It seems clear, people in India don't dress like this all the time.

He's making a caricature of traditional, as it appears very formal, garb.

How is this different from wearing a traditional Indigenous Head Dress?

And Harper never took any flack for that from Liberals. Guess Stevo was just Justin's roll model.
