It's only gotten worse since covid. The murder rate this year was a record high with a disturbing number of young teenagers in groups somewhat randomly stabbing people on streets, buses, the main public library...
It's true though that if you stay home and don't talk to anyone, you'll probably just have your garage broken into.
The Downtown Library victim was homeless. I heard it was two homeless men got into an altercation.
