What pray tell is good in the CPC plan. Could it be Scheers tax cuts for corporations to solve our environmental problems?
According to Macleans (
https://www.macleans.ca/politics/2019-federal-election-platform-guide-where-the-parties-stand-on-everything/ ) some of the things that the conservatives are offering that people might like are:
- Tax cuts aimed at middle/lower incomes (taxes on income under ~47k) and families (physical fitness and arts activities ta credits)
- Stronger gun laws aimed at firearms smuggled into the country and/or used in crimes
- Health care increases of ~3% / year
And it should be noted that while the Green party is seen as the more "environmental" party, the conservatives don't totally ignore the issue... this includes tax credits for Canadian-developed green technology and for home renovations that improve energy efficiency, and emissions standards for major green-house gas producers. (And unlike the Green party, they won't try to get rid of Nuclear power, one of the dumbest parts of the green party platform.)
Granted, its still early in the election race... parties still haven't released their complete election platforms. Maybe the green party will put some stuff in their platform that matches what the conservatives have offered. Maybe the conservatives will start offering really stupid stuff. But at this point, I don't think its necessarily fair to characterize the conservative plan as "tax cuts to big business".
