But I believe that discrimination against Muslims would be better wording. Discrimination is well defined in Constitutional law - housing, jobs, etc.
I citing or promoting hatred against people because of their religion is another (criminal) issue.
Yes, protection against discrimination, including hate speech, is well defined in the law. But I suppose MH is right in that the government can make clear it is wrong, in the climate we live in now. I think their mistake was using the vague word "Islamophobia". They should have just focused on discrimination and hate speech towards Muslims, which is more specific and illegal.
