Election 2019: Do something different!
« on: May 05, 2019, 06:33:40 pm »
Oh ya.
Voters everywhere are in no mood for the same-old
Bring it on!
Do something different than the Lib-Con ping-pong.

As two former premiers from those provinces told me, voters increasingly are looking beyond the usual binary choice between voting Liberal or Conservative.

For the first time since Peter MacKay stabbed the Progressive Conservative Party in the back, I am going to vote for the Party I most agree with rather than voting strategically. Regardless of my choice, Mr. Sheer will be Prime Minister after the election and I would not be surprised if Mr. Singh will be Leader of the Opposition.
Granny, referring to the CPC as Cons is a delightful turn of phrase, but then I am just a happy Red Tory.

I don't mean it negatively. It's just a convenient contraction like Libs.
I hope more Canadians vote like you this time - vote for the Party I most agree with rather than voting strategically.
I hope we get a minority government of whatever kind, and parties actually have to do their job and work with each other to govern in the interests of all of us.

80 polls in...   Greens with 39% still.

105/254....   Greens 39, CPC 24, NDP 22, Lib 10.

"May thanked voters, writing "it is brave to vote for real change."

"Manly, who previously captured 20 per cent of the vote in the same riding in 2015, said his win four years later suggests Canadians are ready for a "different kind of politics," and are focused on working across party lines.
He said he believes affordable housing, homeless camps — and most importantly climate change — are the issues that led the party to victory.

"There's so much technology available to us, there's so much we could be doing, it's just a matter of [having] the political courage to do that, and I think people saw that in me," he said."

In 2015, the voting went as follows:

NDP: 33%
LIB: 23.5%
CON: 23.4%
Green: 19.8%

I wonder if the poor showing of the Liberal Party is a harbinger to their fate in the fall election.

Finals for comparison:
With 96 per cent of polls reporting, Manly [Greens] had 37.1 per cent of the vote. Conservatives captured 25.1 per cent, and the NDP 22.9 per cent. The Liberals lagged behind with 11.1 per cent.

Interesting. The CPC stayed about the same. New Green votes came mainly from the Liberals and then NDP.
VERY interesting, and what I would hope to see nationally:
Liberal votes did NOT swing to Conservatives, but to Greens.

The Libs will likely recover some, but if that pattern holds nationally, there won't be Lib-Con majority ping-pong this time.
Minority government of whatever kind, and they'll have to work across Party lines. Sounds good to me.

I believe you mean Green votes no longer settled for a Liberal compromise. Strategic voting is out in 2019.

no - its not! For weeks now, ScheerBots have been actively working to split the 'progressive' vote by pumping up the NDP & Green Party.

Can you elaborate?
MacKay won the PC leadership on the promise not to merge with reform (socialist credit). He immediately did just that and we ended up with a socialist credit government going under the name CPC. If I wanted that kind of government, I would join the
actual communist party (marxist-leninist). I lived under those thieving bas***ds in BC for twenty years. Comrade Manning may have claimed to be conservative but he was just as bolshy as Cec Bennett. The Progressive Conservative Party of Canada was the party of Sir John A. MacDonald. Socialist Credit (Canadian Alliance aka Reform aka "Conservative [barf] Party of Canada) is the party of the American pervert Lincoln.
MacKay sold us to Satan.
Is that enough elaboration for you?  ;D

This is a bit unexpected:
We all woke up a few days ago to a huge headline: more jobs were added in April than in any other single month since 1976.
That's 106,500 net jobs added, 73,000 of them full-time. (The projection, BTW, was for just 12,000 net jobs added.)

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/it-s-blue-skies-for-the-economy-so-why-is-it-raining-on-trudeau-1.5131876
I asked someone in the finance minister's office what the new job numbers mean for Justin Trudeau's party. His response: "Let the campaign begin now … please."

further to that...

Canada has added 426,400 jobs over the past 12 months, the largest one-year increase since 2007 and up 2.3 per cent over that period. Over the past two years, the economy has added 700,000 jobs

Voters on the left spit their vote between Liberal, NDP, and Greens.  If they didn't the Liberals would win every federal election just about every time.

Yes vote Green, flush your vote down the toilet and let the CPC win.  Its sad but reality.

Abandon the Lib-Con ping pong game.

Vote for something that matters.
