Social conservatives are science deniers, there is a long history of it since the Renaissance. They've resisted everything from atheism, round earth, evolution and climate change. It's their raison-d'etre.
It naturally follows that covidiots would be (social) conservative too.
ETA - I guess fiscal conservatives too but for different reasons. They tend to believe in science, but their dog eat dog view resists social cooperation so they end up covidiots because they only care about themselves.
A lot of conservatives are dumb ignorant a-holes, while a lot of progressives are naive wimpish fools. Lesson: people are stupid.
