geezaz! CPC leader O'Tool is taking some real criticism over his lack of masking/physical distancing... those few days before he tested positive for COVID-19.

some are saying that at least weakAndy Scheer only went around blithely infecting Canadian minds!  ;D

wait, what! Says the guy/party pushing the slogan, "Take Back Canada"!

by the by, CPC/O'Tool... you took exception to Deputy PM/Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland using the phrase "build back better" in regards her/the coming budget - and now you're sloganeering with the phrase, "build back stronger"! Oh my!  ;D

Hi waldo! my first post here but it looks like we're pretty close politically. Hoping to get some decent traffic going on this board. So to begin with, my opinion is that O'Tool is going to see if he can copy Trump and stir up some hard right popularity by siding against Covid-19 precautions.

A bit of a risky business for the Cons?

How did you hear about us Monty ?

Just a search for Canadian forums. I just got busted from another forum and I like to keep three running at the same time. This is promising because Canada needs one that's not biased one way or another. Maybe this one won't be?

So far I haven't even been able to judge the quality of the participants.  Does this one have much promise in your opinion. And finally, why would you want to know how I found this forum?

My main interest is in US politics because I see them headed toward fascism.

in recent days... O'Tool is on a ChinaTear - in one emphasis he presumes to highlight COVID-19 accountability! Still waiting on him to bow to Trumpy and call it the China virus!

He's parrotinig Pompeo  who is demonizing China for anything and everything now.

Even having the nerve to say that China was just lying about being a peacable country. Or in other words doing everything possible to justify a war with China. Even though they know that they can't do that because of MAD.

You should check out Pompeo's little speech if you want to see a non-nuanced and phony direct attack against China.

The only glimmer of light in the whole thing that's invented by Pompeo is that it's mostly for the effect it has with Americans of both political stripes right now. They're always ready for their next fkng war!

so, this weekend, Kenney’s United Conservative Party is holding a virtual annual general meeting... and O'Tool shows up... in person! And now the 2 stalwart Cons are taking some real flack about their lack of masks given their chummy lack of social-distancing - rationalized by, I guess, O'Tool channeling Trumpy's immunity claim:

Quote from: CPC leader O'Tool
I’m the easiest guy to hang out with because I can’t give it or get it from anyone for four months

waldo notes the caveat: O'Tool limits his immunity to 4 months... giving... or getting! It's science!  ;D

When Trump's reign of terror comes to an end with a thud, I think Canada's politics will follow. The mad rightist faction in Canada will lose all the wind from their sails.

And more or less a reverse response in Canada if Trump should win.

The Conservative party agenda will be largely seen as irrational and extremist in Canada in the future. They have no real talking points, as has been made evident by their support on this forum. Even their ridiculous talking points on taxation have been neutralized because of rational people looking below the surface on more than just what makes them feel good.

O'Toole is definitely more reasonable than that fool Scheer, he's no extremist, though some in the party are bonkers.  There are far-right elements in Canada that have been emboldened by Trump and the other things going on in the US that will hopefully lessen.  Unfortunately i think Trump is as much a symptom as a cause.

First off, I agree totally with you on Trump being a symptom and not  so much a cause. That which ails the US isn't going to be fixed with Biden and his establishment Democratic party. I'll be surprised if he can even fix their healthcare system. And their current mess could qualify as suitable in a fascist regime for what it lacks!

Rightist leaders such as Scheer and O'Toole seldom disappoint their screaming supporters. They save their real priorities until after they're elected.

I suggest the reason for having to do that is because nothing in their agenda is politically acceptable anymore.

That can be a challenge to any of the Con supporters to name one?
