That had nothing to do with the US threat.  It's still just as empty.

Perhaps we did not watch the same reactions unfold in the media....i think the liberals came unglued for a second, Trumps message was the cause of all of that, i mean unless you are trying to say that it was all the liberals idea to start with....because that would be false, once they ran out of excuses and their backs were up again'st the wall, that's when they started with put promises out there of increased spending and purchases projects....but we all know how much wieght promises have, if they are even elected again....

The defence policy was in the planning long before Trump was in the Whitehouse.  It certainly didn't give Trump what he wanted.

Irving wants to sell new arctic patrol ships abroad. Only problem? They cost 6 times what other countries are paying for similar warships.
Don't ask why we're paying 6 times more than other nations. That would be rude.

They actually don’t cost 6x as much.  The development costs were paid by Canada.  They can now be sold at a rate very similar to that of other countries.

The development costs of a design which is 90% similar to the one we bought, you mean?
Is there not a point where the thought occurs that perhaps we should have had the Norwegians build them for us?

That wasn’t the same ship at all.  They basically bought the plans and discarded them.

I dunno, Wikipedia puts the construction costs at 2.3 billion for six ships. That's 380 million per copy.

These are half billion dollar ships with the speed of a rowboat and minimal armament which can't go through heavy ice. Why are we building them at all?

That’s actually not all that much for the construction.  Most modern warships with heavy weapon systems are over $1.5B.

According to the story we are paying $3B for 5 vessels. That's $500m apiece. These are NOT warships with heavy weapons. They're way smaller and have close to half the speed of the Halifax frigates. It's total armament is a 25mm gun and a couple of Browning machineguns.

One 25 MM cannon and two Browning M2 machine guns are not heavy weapons. That's the same as a Bradley Fighting vehicle with one more machine gun and minus the anti tank missiles.

The Svalbard carries a 57 MM gun plus machine guns.

Maybe you should check out the costs of modern warships built in say the US, or Germany, or korea.....less than 1/2 of what we can build them here for....but hey we have to save that industry we don't really have...

That's definitely not what I said.

The newest Arleigh Burke is running over $2B USD.  The F105 in Spain was over $1B Euros.  When all costs are actually calculated, it's not the case.
