Canada's Controversial Interim Fighter Jet Purchase
« on: February 03, 2017, 08:35:22 pm »
I am of two minds when it comes to Ottawa's purchase of interim fighters.

First, I think it's political, and dumb.  I think that this is being done to avoid the F-35 (for now) and that it will cost us more overall.

On the other hand, I'm totally in favour of a larger RCAF fighter fleet.  This purchase takes us to 95 active aircraft, and allows us to maintain our NORAD and NATO obligations at the same time.  I hope that the Liberals actually stick to that ~100 fighter number when it comes to replacing our full fleet post 2025.
