Apparently that will only get you 18 years in Canada. What a joke we have become.

And only 5 years or so with time served, plus statutory release when he's served 2/3rds of his sentence, he could be out in 3 years or so.  No wonder he suddenly decided to plead guilty.  :(

No, thatís not the case.  It may be a light sentence, but itís not 3 years considering heís been in jail for 10+ years already.

The Crown was lucky to get anything considering the crooked cops they had on this case...

Quote
One former investigator, Derek Brassington, pleaded guilty in early 2019 to breach of trust and attempted obstruction of justice for carrying out a romantic relationship with a potential key witness in the case over several months in 2009.

Two other former officers who worked on the case have pleaded guilty to non-criminal misconduct.

Yes, I did mention the "time served".  It'll be three years or so from now - unless he's a real dick in jail.  Otherwise, he's guaranteed to be free when he's served 2/3rds of this 5 years and 7 months.  He'll have probation for the 1/3 time he would otherwise have been in jail.

I agree, this entire case has been a mess.

Iím pretty sure murder doesnít carry mandatory parole.  They can keep him in for the max sentence.

He and Jarrod will eventually end up like brother Johnathan after they get out. The whole family is a real piece of work, particularly Pop. He must be a real proud dad, one son dead and the other two in jail.

3 cops working that case plead guilty to something...   so clearly they had some serious issues with the investigative team....
