You're preaching to the choir, I've lived it minus the blond hair.  And you'd be surprised what male colleagues do even for older female colleagues that they would never do for a male colleague.

But I'm not sure what any of it has to do with insecure men picking apart attractive women in positions of power.  Is one supposed to excuse the other?

I was responding to the tails of how horrible it is to be an attractive blonde woman in business. As for politics, I already pointed out it's a rough sport, and people will go for whatever is most visible about you. Being mocked for being attractive is not the worst thing that can happen to a person. And plenty have been mocked for being airheads without regard to their looks.

And btw if you don't think being an attractive woman is helpful in a popularity contest at any level.... well...

He has been called an 'orange clown' or an 'orangutan' which certainly cast doubt on his abilities.

Sure, lots of people on the internet talk about Trump in insulting terms. How many federal lawmakers or public officials do?  How many press agencies do?

Gerry Ritz and Rebel Media aren't just random people on the internet, they're a member of Parliament and a self-styled press organization. Do you feel that Ritz and The Rebel shouldn't be held to a higher standard than the tards over at 4Chan or The Daily Stormer?

Furthermore, McKenna's appearance is the result of her personal grooming choices. She may be a natural blond but she made the choice to keep her hair long and straight.

Hey, maybe she should start wearing a hijab and chador to work, so that people will stop paying attention to her looks!

Ass-kicking? Hardly. She got lazy and played the victim card

She confronted him, and he ran away because he knew what he said was indefensible.  Why do you see this as "the victim card"?  Is it always "the victim card" if somebody confronts insults directed at them? Or is only "the victim card" when somebody you don't like confronts insults directed at them?

which means in this day and age people are bullied into silence.

Sure, Tim, I bet Ritz had a whole lot of fascinating knowledge to drop, if only he had been given a chance.  ::)

Lookit, somebody posted a link to an article saying that G20 nations were missing climate targets, and Ritz says "hur hur hur tell Climate Barbie hur hur hur" and that was the beginning and end of the wisdom he had to offer.

More importantly, attack someone personally because you disagree with their ideas is just bad form. It would be indefensible if it was levelled at a man or woman. The issue is not whether Ritz was right to say what he did but McKenna's claim that this was 'sexism' as opposed to the normal partisan rhetoric.

This was sexism.  It might have been partisan, but it was still sexism. It's ridiculous that you can't even see it.  If he'd launched a similar blast at Defence Minister Sajjan referincing Sajjan's turban, it would have been partisan, but it would also have been bigoted.

And  you really think that was an option after she played the victim card? No one wants to have a SJW mob go after them.

Yeah, I bet he was about to blow the lid off the whole fake climate conspiracy, right? Just him and his Twitter followers. If only those darned SJWs didn't take him out!

What people forget is looking 'beautiful' is incredibly time consuming for a man or woman (It is worse for women but 6 pack abs take a lot of time). Someone who is spending such time is not spending it on something else. For a movie actor this is not a big deal - for a politician aspiring to lead the country this raises questions about priorities. I think people intuitively understand the looking 'beautiful' may mean someone is not spending time reading policy papers or the news. I know this is gross generalization that will not apply to a small number of supermen/women but I think it is broadly true and the reason the stereotype exists.

McKenna wears a simple hairstyle and a modest amount of makeup. The notion that her appearance is evidence that she doesn't spend enough time working on her job is completely unsupported by any information other than a moronic stereotype.   We just had a Prime Minister who was an accomplished musician and wrote a book while in office. Did anybody ever ask how Stephen Harper found time to study current events while he was practicing music and researching his hockey history book?

I don't think you actually think this is a reasonable argument, I think you're just struggling to rationalize Mr Ritz's comment because you agree with his general sentiment.
