I've seen them around for a long time, but that's just me.  Stuff you can't buy at Walmart i guess.
They must just be new to the Maritimes or New Brunswick at least. It's good to see a children's toy store with learning and development at heart though. Chapters/Indigo has the same thing in mind with their selection, but seem to have veered away from that a bit lately. Now they're more focused on the hot new unique toys.

Hopefully you don't get a Ralph Laureen coat.

A $350 designer coat for $99 from some guy online.  I’m thinking knock off.

Thats what I was.thinking too.  On the other hand, what difference does it make?  If it looks good enough to fool people, keeps him warm and doesn't fall apart in the first year, its a good deal.

I was thinking it as well, don't worry. BUT, I've seen and tried the coat on a couple of times. I know what it looks like and feels like. It's on Ebay which gives me recourse, and the seller has a 100% satisfaction rating. And I paid with Paypal which also gives me recourse.

I suppose, as long as you feel you got value for your money.

I bought a few sets of knock off golf clubs in Shanghai years ago. Quality varied but a couple were quite good. Old technology now but I'm still using most of the irons over a decade later.

Turns out I got nothing. They cancelled the sale and refunded my money. They sent a note saying when they inspected it they found the coat defective and they had no more of that model in that size and colour.

FYI, I have gone looking for a new late fall coat every fall for ten years and have yet to find one I like. There is a dearth of selection in this city. Basically, it's the Bay and that's that. If the Bay hasn't got something you like, then you wait until next year. There are no other stores selling higher end coats and jackets other than some of the sports stores selling ski jackets and the like or super high end stores like Harry Rosen which have a limited selection and whose coats cost about $1000 and up..

Sure...   if you think child trafficking and slave labour are OK, definitely take a chance with the cheap knockoff crap from 3rd world countries...

I hate it when lefties are hypocrites when they can save a buck or two....    we’re supposed to be on the right side of the regulation/union/worker rights argument....   then I hear fellow lefties saying things like you just did and it drives me nuts.   I expect nonsense and hypocrisy from the other side...

The thing is... there are degrees of 'ok' when it comes to this stuff.  People would prefer to argue absolutes then look into which chains are actually making efforts to make things better in Bangladesh.  Do you know which brands are actually working to make things better ?  WAL MART was actually well regarded, as I recall, and Reitman's and Giant Tiger were about the worst.

If you don't take the time to investigate retailers, then you're accepting the fact that 50% of retailers DON'T REPORT.  Talk about this stuff:

@MH, you totally missed the context....

@dia was talking about knockoffs (fake brands) and that it wasn’t a big deal if you can save a few bucks...  it’s all the same.  (Paraphrasing there).  When, in reality, these knockoffs are way worse than most name brands and use child slave labour to make their products.   It is, literally, harmful to children to buy knockoff products.

Of course some retailers and brands are better than others and you should research the brands/retailers you shop at, look at where your clothes are made, and make the best judgement possible.   This is rarely done, but it should be.

I didn't know they had their own branded clothing.

They have store brands I think.

Considering that many of these name brands are making their products in those same countries, I'm not sure that workers conditions for those making knock offs are much different from those making the real deal. While some wasn't bad and was perfectly serviceable,  none of the knock off clothing I saw over there measured up to the real thing. IE: don't expect your knock off GorTex jacket to actually be water proof.
