It’s must’ve been just a coincidence that the IRS shows up at the house of a journalist covering the government’s involvement in censoring content on Twitter.  The day this particular journalist was set to testify in front of congress.

Elon Musk’s court stenographer is not a journalist.

Don't worry, the case gets even dumber than that...

From: https://judiciary.house.gov/media/in-the-news/irs-makes-strange-house-call (originally from the Wall Street Journal)
...Mr. Taibbi has told Mr. Jordan’s committee that an IRS agent showed up at his personal residence in New Jersey on March 9. That happens to be the same day Mr. Taibbi testified before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government about what he learned about Twitter. The taxman left a note instructing Mr. Taibbi to call the IRS four days later. Mr. Taibbi was told in a call with the agent that both his 2018 and 2021 tax returns had been rejected owing to concerns over identity theft.

While the MAGAchud are probably having wet dreams with the claims of "big bad IRS trying to intimidate a patriot who is speaking out against an evil corporation", I don't really think "Your identity might have been stolen" is really that effective in trying to intimidate someone.

The linked article goes into all this detail about how "agents never make house calls" and go into details about how they will send letters or schedule meetings when problems occur. But identity theft is a rather serious matter, and probably more significant than "you filled out line X on your return incorrectly".

Why on earth would the IRS need to show up to his house in person for that?  And coincidently the day he was to testify?  Come'on man, even Bidenchud aren't that stupid.  Regardless, Taibbi is an independent journalist, who's principles have stayed the same for decades.  He was very critical of the Bush administration, as well as the Trump administration.  But yes, he speaks out against government censorship, even when Democrats are involved, so that makes him an enemy now.  When did you all become such fascist pieces of sh*t?

Lol. Matt Taibbi on Ted Cruz in 2016: "Cruz is almost physically repellent... He's against everything all at once. Welfare! Corporations! Special Interests! Government! The Establishment! He's that escort who'll be into whatever you want, for an hour."

Taibbi in 2023:

Dude got paid by Elon Musk to push Musk's bogus Twitter files narrative, he's nothing but a hoor.

The Biden administration is weaponizing the government against anyone that it deems not an ally.  And Bidenchud cheer it on, just like in a banana republic.

They're trying to intimidate him by...telling him they owe him a bunch of money?

The Committee has learned that while Mr. Taibbi was describing his findings of government abuse and civil liberties violations, an IRS revenue officer appeared at Mr. Taibbi’s personal residence in New Jersey—leaving a note for Mr. Taibbi to call the IRS four days later. When Mr. Taibbi called the IRS, the IRS informed him that the reason for the visit was because his electronic 2018 and 2021 tax return filings had been rejected due to concerns of identity theft. According to Mr. Taibbi, the IRS notified his accountant that the IRS had accepted his 2018 filing, and in the four-and-a-half years since then, the IRS has never notified Mr. Taibbi or his accountant of any issue with this return—until the day he was testifying before Congress. With respect to his 2021 return, the IRS rejected Mr. Taibbi’s electronic filing twice, even after his accountant filed with an IRS-provided pin number. In both cases, the IRS informed Mr. Taibbi after the agency visited his home that the problems were not “monetary”; in fact, the IRS apparently owed Mr. Taibbi a “considerable” tax return.

I am more and more convinced that psychologically normal people do not want to enter politics because a healthy thinking person would not want to put themselves or their families through that meat-grinder.  And the only way to survive that meat-grinder is if you are a sociopath that doesn't give a crap about anyone or anything.

"Mr. President, the missile you ordered just killed 200 people including women and children".  Ok thanks i'm going back to bed now.

Lauren Boebert seems really, really stupid, but I'm still surprised she would fixate on public urination laws after her husband was charged for exposing his dick to teenage girls.

Coincidentally, that is why the Law Enforcement community has become a lot worse in the last 20 years.  Why would normal people want to subject themselves to such contempt and hatred of a significant percentage of the community?  Police are attracting the wrong kinds of people today- sociopaths who get off on bullying people.

I think the law enforcement community has gotten better since they and everybody else got cameras. Also people's ability to complain about them publicly went from practically non-existent to immediate access to a worldwide audience. They've always been horrible pricks. You just didn't hear about it.

What is getting worse is hard to notice because the big things get worse at a pervasive level.

Like... budgeting, planning, thinking about difficult things, sacrifice... all of these things are being eroded now.

My friend's 24-year old is depressed, lives at home, no job... somehow orders Uber Eats every night...

Democrats again paying the price for pushing wokeness by winning a majority in the Wisconsin Supreme Court for the first time in 15 years.

Quote
liberal judge Janet Protasiewicz’s victory over conservative judge Dan Kelly may be the most important election result of 2023.

This state Supreme Court election, in which a record $45 million was spent, flipped the balance of power on the swing state’s highest court. That, in turn, is likely to determine the future of abortion rights, election laws and voting rights — three hot-button issues in the swing state.

Protasiewicz’s margin of victory was 11 points in a state that went to Biden by just 0.6 points in 2020.
