In addition to the article you posted (that showed Whealan was discharged from the marines for bad conduct), the part of the article talking about how the CIA would not hire Whealan was supported by a reference to the New York Times.
Oh, and by the way, Whealan was arrested in December 2018, when, lets see, the U.S. had Stubby McBonespurs as a president. Given all the groveling Trump had done for the benefit of Putin, you would figure he would be able to swing his release.
