ess than 24 hours after the unprecedented leak of the draft opinion that overturned Roe v. Wade, Chief Justice John Roberts ordered an investigation into the “egregious breach. ”

Since then? Silence.

The Supreme Court won’t say whether it’s still investigating.

The court also won’t say whether the leaker has been identified or whether anyone has been disciplined.

Or whether an outside law firm or the FBI has been called in.

Or whether the court will ever offer an accounting of what transpired.

Or whether it has taken steps to try to prevent a repeat.

To these and other emailed questions, Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said by email: “The Court has no comment.”

They found out Ginny Thomas leaked it and can't have that get out.

It was hilarious how quickly they shifted from saying the leak was a betrayal of the court that must be fully investigated to saying it wasn't illegal and we should just forget about it. I wonder what information cauased them to change their positlon.

This is what regressive, anti-women abortion laws gets you.

https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Health/idaho-woman-shares-19-day-miscarriage-tiktok-states/story?id=96363578

Quote
"I've been actively miscarrying since the 8th," she said in the video, posted on Dec. 13. "I have gone to a doctor, and this is my second visit to the ER if you're wondering why women's rights matter. I'm just going to [expletive] bleed out on this table before somebody comes and actually helps me."

She said that she asked twice for a D&C, including from her own OBGYN.

OBGYNs told ABC News the "save the mother's life" exception of abortions bans -- which Broesder may have qualified for in Idaho -- is often vague and the language is unclear about what qualifies as a mother's life being in danger, what the risk of death is, and how imminent death must be before a provider can act.

Providers also may be worried about providing miscarriage care because it could be misconstrued as providing abortion care, and they could face legal repercussions.

"That's the optimal scenario, that doctors are able to provide the care that's necessary and evidence-based," Dr. Beverly Gray, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Duke Health in Durham, North Carolina, who was not involved in Broesder's care, told ABC News. "I worry about other systems that are worried about how they could come under attack for taking care of a patient or could a doctor that's caring for the patient be prosecuted in some way.

How come Republicans can't ignore abortions like they can school shootings?

One of the interesting side effects of the theocrats overturning Roe v. Wade:

From: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/idaho-hospital-bonner-general-stops-labor-delivery-services-citing-political-climate-doctor-shortages/
An Idaho hospital will stop labor and delivery services, citing doctor shortages and the "political climate," the hospital announced Friday.... In the wake of the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, abortion bans have added another challenge to rural hospitals that have struggled to keep their doors open and their facilities fully staffed and running.

Its really hard to have sympathy for the people of Idaho here.... while there are some democrats in the state (and I do have sympathy for THEM), the state went overwhelmingly for Trump in the 2016 election. So a racist con-artist promises to screw up women's health care, and people in the state say "Yay Trump". And now doctors are leaving. All those good christian women now have to travel a lot further to give birth to their hell-spawn. Perhaps if they voted for a candidate who didn't treat women as second-class citizens, they would be able to keep their hospitals open.

Interesting. I wonder what could be the cause of it.

I don't think its the reversal of Roe V Wade, since the increase started post-2018 (and the American taliban didn't manage to overturn Roe until 2022).  Health care disruptions caused by covid might have contributed to the increase in 2020/2021 but wouldn't explain increases pre-2020.

Maybe it was due to millions of Americans losing their health insurance because Stubby McBonespurs started trying to destroy Obamacare.

From: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/hsph-in-the-news/quantifying-health-coverage-losses-under-trump/
Between the years 2016 and 2019—the majority of President Donald Trump’s current term in office—the number of Americans without health insurance jumped by about 2.3 million, and that loss of health coverage led to at least 3,399 deaths and possibly as many as 25,180, a new analysis found.... "We can connect this rise in uninsurance to policy decisions by the Trump administration, including the cessation of nearly all federal support for enrollment navigators and assisters, the reduction in the individual mandate penalty to zero, and the expansion of junk, short-term health insurance plans, among other interventions"...

Republicans: "Lets force women to give birth. Also lets take away their health care insurance so they might die during the birth. Pro-life!"
