"outing" is contradicted by the very public dissemination of the letter... in the public Cornell 'web domain'. In any case, the full letter affords a more complete perspective on the rationale behind the author's writing - one that, as I suggested, seems consistent with the university's public issued mission statement & core values. With that full letter perspective you may want to more completely provide support for your 'self-flagellation' summary assessment - yes?
